Some strange ideas about some of our players there, to be honest.

Adebayor's probably as quick as Defoe, so I'm not sure why Carragher would have any more luck against him due to pace.
Suggesting that van der Vaart's ever disinterested is a bit odd, too.
    He's often over-committed, if anything.

The euro match won't make much difference, I expect the likes of Cudichini, Townsend, Corluka, Dos Santos, Mason, Kane, Pav, Falque, Livermore, Defoe, Ceballos, Carroll and/or Bostock to start in Greece. I don't expect any player who starts Thursday getting a game on Sunday with the exception of Jermain Defoe. Defoe should play in both matches because he has hit form and he needs to keep the momentum going. When he is confident he is lethal and he is super confident at the moment. The bench may even include a couple of Academy trainees. I'd like to bet Harry would avoid going himself if he could.

Carra has a history of scoring own goals in Spurs v Liverpool fixtures so lets hope he plays.

I see a close match, with it coming out 3-2. It could go either way but lets hope Carra gets the decider, in his own net of course.

The cup is a pain in the arse deedub, why do you think we let you go into it last season ;)

Seriously I wanted us to qualify, and would have loved to have won it last season of course but am coming around to the benefits of us not being in it this year. Or next, hopefully next yr Champs League!

Good way of blooding youngsters in though mate

Definitely agree with that. We might not be playing the Barcelona's or Real Madrid's but it's still good teams in good leagues, great experience for the young lads, plus it gives you an idea of how they're progressing from the academy too.

We have won the last 4 games at WHL against Liverpool (1 was a league cup game) so hopefully we can continue the trend and grab 3 points.

How likely is it that Gerrard is going to play?

He is certainly not going to start, he lacks match fitness. He might make the bench after a full week of training, but couldn't really say.

With Kenny you never know. He might just go for it and throw him in at the deep end. I agree it's probably unlikely, but I certainly wouldn't rule it out <ok>

Sure Gerrard is chom0ping at the bit to lead our Redmen out, which fan wouldn't be?!

But surely he can't do the whole game, maybe with half an hour to go whatever the score?

I find it quite funny that some fans and many pundits are looking at Sunday's match as a 'must win'. It's only 5 games into the season so let's be honest nothing will be decided by this game.

Obviously a win for either side would help boost confidence - but a draw would not be the end of the world for either. I hope for a good match and I truly hope that we don't scorn the amount of chances that we wasted last year!

It's scary to think that I've basically forgotton about Gerrard until recently. Even when putting together teams with new signings in I forget about him. This is testiment to the side we have now. Gerrard, (now for a completley different reason) has to really raise his game

I would say it is a 'must not lose' game for both teams. Spurs really wouldn't want to have 3 defeats in their first 4 games this season and we certainly don't want 2 defeats on the trott. It's a really tough game to call because we are away and Spurs will really want to win this game.

I'm hoping the return of Gerrard will help boost our players and get the morale back on a high. I also hope we find a way to put our chances away!!

I don't think it was due to that to be honest. I think it was more complex than that, but Gerrard certainly needs to fight for his place now. No way should he be starting just because of his status.

    Question to the 'Pool fans.

Who do you guys reckon will drop to the bench once Gerrard's fully fit? The midfield area for you lot seems really strong at the moment, not that Gerrard would hinder it but from an outside view it'd be harsh on one of the current crop to be dropped. Always a good selection headache to have I suppose.
