This thread has reminded me that I need to get the actual match thread up a bit lively...

I shall try and get it up tonight or tomorrow morning at the latest.

Page, professional football is a small world and it is interesting to read about links of this type - it shows that players and managers are human

Very true, and that story also tells us that Kenny could(if he had'nt been homesick)have signed for West Ham and our complete future after Keegan left would have been completely different.

I know the story about Kenny and Harry Redknapps friendship, it dates back to 1966, Kenny was a trialist at West Ham, actually West Ham was one of the clubs a then 15 year old Kenny had trials with, one of the others was Liverpool. Harry Redknapp then a West Ham first teamer took Kenny under his wing and looked after him.
That friendship was the reason why Harry the then Bournemouth manager in 1991 sent his then 17 year old son Jamie to Liverpool. Back to Kenny as a 15 year old Liverpool trialist. Shanks was known to be upset that Kenny got away. However there was a reason for this, as Kenny was homesick and returned to Glasgow and signed for Celtic as an ameteur in 1966. The rest is history.
