He's been faster than most defenders I've seen him up against. He wins the aerial battles with them a lot too. That's why I likened it to playing against a lower age group, because he's too developed to be playing in those games.
"He's been faster than most defenders I've seen him up against." He's been slower than a lot of U21 defenders I've seen him against. If anything I would say he is not putting himself about in full senior games as much as he could (the U21 league seem to have a bit of a "gentlemans agreement" about how hard you put yourself about) .
Really don't get how many write Kane off all the time. He's still only 20 years old, just because he's not a Barkley/ Oxo-cube/ Wilshere/ Shaw etc it doesn't mean he won't make it at Prem level. He's shown glimpses of when he's on his game, he can cause defenders problems but the problem for Harry is that our formation is usually limited to one striker and the fact our club tends to have 2-3 internationals ahead of him most of the time, his chances are extremely limited resulting in people judging him usually on 15-20 minute cameos spread over roughly a 3-4 week basis. Not only will he be rusty at 1st team level all the time but it's too short of a time for him to make an impact. Yesterday, luckily he made a positive addition to the team when he came on and I have no doubt that was helped due to the fact he got about 65-70 minutes last Thursday meaning he wasn't going to be so rusty and only fuelled up on U21's experience. The kid needs games and hopefully we'll be able to find a Prem club willing to take a punt on him for half or a full season next year, only then is it fair to judge him in my opinion. As for the game, too little too late. We were poor for 70 minutes but the additions of Kane and Eriksen turned us into a completely side. Benfica were rattled and they couldn't handle Kane's determination and aggression along with Eriksen's space-finding where he was carving out some great passes. Chadli looked really good and Bentaleb had one his best games in a Spurs shirt. Credit to Zeki Fryers for doing a more than decent job at CB and I thought Naughton was pretty good again too - who'd have thought that when Naughton's in his natural position he'd look a half decent player... Funny that.
It was a very talented squad, not sure about now though. How many would get into the teams of the top four? It needs someone like Van Gaal and 5/6 players to turn it around and get Spurs knocking on the door again. Some very talented players there but also more very average ones.
It's a daft question, Cleverley played regularly for the champions last season so how can there be any straight answer. People's opinions of players are fickle, if people want to say our team's average or we wasted money I won't bother arguing with them, it's pointless. A quality manager is the start we need, you're right on that. It's hard to say when the last time was that we had a manager who's quality matched the quality of the squad.
