Would you mind explaining what happened in 1967 when they beat Chelsea in the FA Cup and 2008 when they beat them in the League Cup? If they had "stopped competing", as you claim, did Chelsea just lie down and take it?

If they, as you say, "stopped competing in 1961" what happened to Chelsea in 1967 and 2008 and the 60's, 70's and 80's when they were consistently more successful than the club you support?

Of course if you are too young to remember those decades and unable to answer I'll understand.

In the League that is, Spurs stopped competing, even West Ham have come closer since <ok>

**** club, embarassing logo ( a chicken standing on a ****ing football ), scumbag fans. Enough said about tottenham, case closed

I think an hour and forty minutes without an answer would suggest that there is no answer and, when one recognises that District Line has since commented upon other threads, he has no answer and the point has been made.

Chelsea fans - small brained individuals.

You started off well without winding people up, now you're beginning to piss me off with that insult you've thrown our way. Nobody cares about the past except Scousers and apparently now the Spuds.

Nah ! Nah! My Dad's bigger than yours!

I am sorry, all I was doing was responding to a couple of posts that were going on about the past and pointing out that one of the users of this forum had posted a comment that I questioned and then challenged him to justify, that he has failed to do so says more about his failings than mine, would you not agree?

and

and as for this

in comparison I think I have been a model of decorum and self control, as for the Chelsea fans (above) <doh> well if I were you I would distance myself from them as they do your club no credit at all.

Well ok but apart from the last one I wouldn't deem the others as offensive as branding us all 'brandead idiots'. They are just opinions <ok>. You seem like a decent poster but you went a bit far.

I don't believe I said that all Chelsea fans were small brained idiots (I used the word "individuals" btw)

However I'll edit it to:

Chelsea fans that went on about the past and had to act like kids - small brained individuals.

To be honest, i am actually in the wrong with my offensive posts but the thing is you came on our board looking for a reaction and you got a reaction, i don't see why we should have to come on to the forum to our board to see a perfectly friendly thread ( the christmas one ) getting wummed all over, if you'd said what you said on that thread on this thread then theres no issue because it's a wum v a wum, but that was a perfectly innoncent thread that had nothing to do with tottenham and you can't honestly expect people to be happy and smiley about someone slating our team on thread after thread after thread, i'm sure if someone commented on most of your threads on your board looking to wind people up then they'd be a very hostile reaction to it.
You deserve an apology for my offensive remarks hence this post but i wouldn't have been wound up enough to write that if you hadn't slated my club and my fellow blues.
You love your club, we love ours and i'm sure you'd back your club untill the end and wouldn't like someone slating your club hence why you most likely responded to this thread, but the other thread did take it a bit too far

well said coop <ok>

I think you should take blue's post with a pinch of salt and a sarcastic post due to how stupid he thinks the argument on this thread is!

Anyway I'm off, night night lads.

When you check the record books you will find that Spurs consistently finished above Chelsea in the 60's, the 70's and the 80's. So out of the 5 decades since 1961 Spurs have been more successful than Chelsea in 3 out of the 5. Of course, if you would like to provide the facts to dispute this (rather than opinions) I will happily admit that I was wrong.

Considering your claim that Spurs "stopped competing" after 1961 it would be interesting to see how you explain away their 2nd place finish in 1963.

I await, with eager anticipation, your non-biased reply.

Well 1973 onwards we declined as we were in financial turmoil. In the 60s/early 70s we were as good as any team out there.

60s

Chelsea League Finishes above Spurs = 5

Spurs League finishes above Chelsea = 5

You were nowhere near winning the title in 1963 just as Chelsea were nowhere near winning the title in 2011 <ok>

Spurs were much better than us in the 80s and most of the 50s to suggest otherwise would be stupid but history shows that throughout the 60s and 70s there was nothing in it and Chelsea have been miles better than Spurs in both the 90s and 00s.

Therefore Post War I make that 2 decades of domination each, yours the 50s and 80s, ours the 90s and 00s. I'd say at the beginning of the 10s Chelsea edge it but there is really nothing in it <ok>

Perhaps District Line would care to explain what he means by "small club mentality" because the history books would suggest that, other than Stamford Bridge having a larger capacity than White Hart Lane and a rich benefactor, the 2 clubs are very similar with Chelsea more successful in recent years but Spurs with a greater European trophy haul.

I think that it's also worth pointing out that Spurs were the first club to win a post war double and the first English club to win 2 European trophies in their inaugural years, perhaps District Line might also like to share with us what Chelsea have done that matches these achievements.

The mentality of the club, fans and ambition.

e.g Releasing DVD's of meaningless 1-0 wins ending in midtable and trophyless campaigns.

http://shop.tottenhamhotspur.com/product/tottenham-hotspur-1-0-chelsea-dvd/36765/?TRE00034/

e.g Celebrating finishing 4th in the League

e.g Celebrating being London's top club after only 4 months into 9 month season

<ok>

Spurs have always been a cup team, nothing more, nothing less but these days sadly they can't even win trophies. It was a good thing we let them win the Carling Cup ;)

Better late than never <ok>

1963 - we finished 2nd, Chelsea were where? Oh yes, in division 2.

Hush sonny, hush - talk about the times when you were in the same league, not when you were runners up in the league below. Sad, so sad, that you couldn't even win the 2nd Division that year.

Who cares? We came up. And it coincided with the decline of your double winning team <ok>

Since the 91 Cup win Spurs have declined, and in the mid 90s Chelsea, West Ham and Arsenal moved from strength to strength.

I am not knocking Spurs's past achievements, they have had some great players in the past and the double winning side of 61 is well known for playing some of the best football to date, any rational football fan would concede that but like Liverpool you live in the past.

Football always has and always will be a cyclical game, sooner or later Chelsea won't be top dog in London as we have been for the past 5 or 6 years, and Arsenal the 5 or 6 years before that <ok>
