Alex Pritchard scores from a free kick to help our Next Gen side to a 3-2 win in Wolfsburg tonight. Earlier goals from Shaquille Coulithirst and Reuben Lamieras helped secure the win in our opening game and sets things up nicely for next game at home to Barcelona. At the time of posting, there is nothing on the Spurs OS, so have no idea what team we put out this evening. Will update later.
Shaquille! our very own Ronaldinho lookalike! please log in to view this image ...needs to put on a bit of weight in this pic, just aswell the no.12 is there in time to stop him floating away!
Thanks for posting this, I enjoy the Nextgen series almost as much as the PL, actually I probably enjoy it more because those involved play for pleasure as opposed to playing for pounds.
This is a good start for us, let's hope all the players were properly registered !! Seems we went a goal down before then going 3-1 up with Wolsburg's second goal coming very late in the game. Liningup in a 4-2-3-1 formation, the team was Lawrence Vigoroux Alex McQueen Dominic Ball Milos Veljkovic Kevin Stewart Giancarlo Gallifuoco Laste Dombaxe Kenneth McEvoy Nabil Bentaleb Alex Pritchard Souleymane Coulibaly Subs - Ogilvie, McGee, Darren McQueen, Coulithirst, Lameiras. For those who maybe don't recognise the name of the keeper, he is a lad we signed on at the end of last season, and yes Alex and Darren McQueen are related - they're cousins.
Looks like 4231 is the new Spurs standard - hopefully that means we will learn how to play it properly rather than the half-baked way we've done it in previous seasons.
Top of the table now aren't we? I remember reading in a Nextgen article the otherday that Barca drew with Anderlecht in their opener.
Who looks like they can step up to the first team, other than Coulibaly? I've head positive comments about Veljkovic, Coulithirst, Lameiras and Bentaleb - can they make the step up in the coming seasons?
As I have complained elsewhere, the details of this fixture were not even on the official Nextgen site (FFS !!! ) . Similarly, they are saying the Barca game is going to be at WHL. Is that fact, or are Spurs going to eff about confirming the venue on the actually day like they did for the PSV home game last year ??
A bit early to say about Veljkovic as he's still only 16 (I think). Coulithirst goalscoring record is impressive enough to say at this stage, he might have a good chance. Lameiras certainly has the skill and Bentaleb is an intelligent ball-playing midfilder. Both Lameiras and Bentaleb's preferred position is CM, with Bentaleb being the preferred choice at the moment. Of last seasons side, it was pretty obvious Luongo and Alex Pritchard were the stand out performers. Luongo has got his break and hopefully Pritchard will get a chance as well, because he is an excellent talent. They worked well together, but towards the end of last season, Sherwood, in order to give others a chance, was playing Pritchard in a wider role and for me, he wasn't quite as effective.
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11661/8011760 Interesting to see Sky Sports are covering the Nextgen this season. I think this will really progress over the next few seasons, with all clubs wanting to compete in it although it might make things more difficult keep talented youngsters out of the limelight to avoid them being poached.
Tickets for the Barca game are on sale. http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/spu...-nextgen-series-spurs-vs-barca-19082012.page? £5 a head, £3 for members and only £1 for kids and OAPs. Not a bad deal for those that can't normally afford to go, which is perfectly understandable in the current climate.
Are you sure about that ?? Because there were rulings made about maximum admission prices being charged for this competition, and there are similar rulings in place for all youth games.
