I think we have to face the reality that Kane is sadly becoming quite an injury prone player. This is his 3rd medium-long term injury in as many years. A lot of that is down to him being chronically overworked, but we can't turn back the clock on that and do things like rest him in cup ties against Tranmere.
It is another example of the appalling lack of foresight at the club. We'd had 2 seasons prior to this experiencing Kane being absent for months at a time, yet this summer we took the decision to let Llorente leave without replacing him.
Whilst Kane's our biggest miss, he's far from the only one.
Wanyama's just totally broken...but gets into the squad every year;
Erik Lamela misses at least half a season, every season;
Ben Davies is becoming extremely prevalent to injury and has missed most of this and last season with various problems;
Rose is overweight, can't run and is unable to play, more than he's available;
Eric Dier - see Danny Rose;
Harry Winks hasn't had an extended run in the side for 2.5 seasons and is always picking up ankle problems
Add in Kane and of a squad of 20 outfield players, over a third of them are injured most of the time. That's before you even think about Ndombele's issues.
So, those who are fit are overplayed, like Kane and increasingly, Sissoko...or our managers don't fancy them - Poch with Lucas and Aurier, Mourinho with Foyth, Lo Celso and now Sanchez.
It ain't good.
