That number 10, Insigne, just scored a peach of a freekick which could've been a penalty too, although I think the ref got it right that time. 10 minutes to save the game.
Now it is 1-0. From a free kick which might have been a penalty. Butland will be disappointed he allowed himself to be unsighted by the wall.
I don't think there will be too many tears shed if Pearce was to depart at the end of this competition.
Lots of disappointing parts to that performance. The likes of Lowe, Shelvey, Henderson and McEachran are poor and made a very weak midfield. On the plus side that Redmond looked good, surprising that Pearce only had him in as backup and Chalobah did well when he came on. Caulker didn't really do much of note, didn't make any mistakes and didn't do anything brilliantly either.
A poor start to the tournament for England and a deserved win for Italy, so I'd expect a number of changes for the next game. Ince, Rose, Zaha, Smith and Wisdom will all be pushing for a starting place and the decision to start two up front will be looked at too, in my opinion.
David Pleat was bemoaning the fact that we are without a number of players, but say's the team for the next game will be stronger, the Italy team players last night 4 are already full internationals and every player, plays for their clubs first team, they get the chance because Serie A hasn't a lot of foreign players, unlike here
Considering the side Spain have out they've been very disappointing so far. Very impressive on paper with De Gea, Bartra, Thiago, Isco, Tello and Muniain, it's a shame Dzagoev of Russia isn't available to play this game. That Rodrigo we were linked to the other day is starting upfront for Spain but I don't think he's even touched the ball in that first half.
Well if Holtby plays with as much gusto as he sings the German national anthem, then he should be having a good game.
Haha, missed all that, just tuned in. Unimpressed by Spain in the opener but they picked up the pace well in the second half. Quite liked Rodrigo, fast and never stops trying to shake his markers in the box, although I'm not so sure it was always worth persisting with, looked more of a waste of energy at times. £10mill seems a lot but there are shades of Hernandez about him.
1-0 Adam Maher. I'll let Spurcat tell you what exactly the 'keeper did wrong there but I think the technical term is that "he ****ed it up".
Yeah, he and the rest of the German side have been much better this half. Volland's strike earlier deserved to go in, he struck it so well.
And he's just scored a screamer EDIT: Perhaps not a "screamer" on viewing the replay, still a good goal though.
