Those early "prog rock" albums opened my ears to a new kind of music , my best mates brother would let us play those albums on his brand new stereo system and use his headphones , Days of future past,in search of the lost chord, threshold of a dream and question of balance , john wrote my favourite MBlues track Ride My See Saw brilliant driving bass lines

The Moodies were seriously underrated in the grand lexicon of popular music and as you identify, those albums were inspirational in the creation of progressive rock.
I was introduced to their music by an older cousin and they definitely helped form my own musical direction. :emoticon-0148-yes:
 
Read the news about Ian Watkins. Laughed.
Went to see a death metal band at the Kentish Town Forum. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
One obituary after another. Would recommend. <ok>

I'm so out of touch with popular music, I had to Google who Ian Watkins was. Don't know the band either.

Lostprophets had a big album in 2004 but then dropped off a fair bit with the next few.
Watkins was then found to have committed a host of horrific crimes against children.
He went on to commit further crimes in jail and was stabbed on a previous occasion.
I'd genuinely urge anyone unaware of him not to look up the details of his offences. Seriously.

The rest of the band had no idea what he was up to, by all accounts.
That makes the video for their 2006 song A Town Called Hypocrisy a rather disturbing coincidence.
It's an oversexualised parody of TV shows like Rainbow, Fingermouse and others of that era.

Also worth pointing out Lostprophets were pretty much a joke because of how blatantly they chased trends

Their debut album was pretty much on the skate metal bandwagon of 2000-1, and when they almost immediately sold out and signed to Sony they remastered it to sound a bit more like Incubus as they were on the rise when Limp Bizkit were on the fall

A few years and a couple of albums down the line, at a time when My Chemical Romance were on the rise, they suddenly pivoted to an emo sound to keep them relevant again

By the time Watkins' noncery emerged they were pretty much on the way out anyway because of this

RIP Ace Frehley.

Kiss passed me by. Not because they were too theatrical...**** alone knows, I'm not going to start throwing those stones...but because behind the outfits and makeup, there just wasn’t enough substance. It's the same deal with The Misfits when compared to The Damned/Siouxsie and the Banshees, especially when compared to SAHB and the Glam Rock acts in the UK.

Mrs B's B-i-L is 3 or 4 years my senior and he is a fan of their stuff, as well as Iggy, Alice Cooper, etc. Despite a small difference in age and taking onto account that he's a fan of The Pistols (saw them at The 100 Club), The Damned, The Lurkers and The Adverts, he wouldn't know any Dead Kennedys songs and has even less knowledge of The Cramps.

Just a few years makes a HUGE difference.

Anyways, Adios Mr Frehley. I love you, just for your views on the **** that is Gene Simmonds. RIP.

Went to see Paradise Lost at the Islington Assembly Hall, a venue I'd never attended before.
Surprisingly decent sound quality and quite nice for a small venue.
They played 16 songs from 13 different albums without a dip, which is pretty impressive.
