I know I should I've got over 700 albums 500 plus cds Q magazines and Mojo but I cannot bring myself to do it , the magazines can go as well as the CDs as I'm about to buy a Brennan to store my CDs on Good luck with the sale
If you're still playing them, that's a different thing entirely. I still play some of my vinyl, but the singles don't get much of an outing. Their condition wouldn't interest serious collectors but they'd make me a few quid. One of my brother in laws has made his interest known, so I'll have that option, after my girls have had anything they want.
Never been a singles collector, I've got a few punk singles and stuff from my parents but other than that I've always collected albums , in the days of CDs I nearly sold my records but the guy who came to buy them smelt of cats piss and offered me a pittance and to cap it off he complained I had no Queen or Kiss albums
He sounds like a real catch. There's stuff that doesn't move me and/or I don't understand, but I get that others do. However, I'm very suspicious of fans of certain bands. Queen are at the top of the list, as are U2 and Oasis. If you rate those bands, you're admitting to having no musical appreciation and cloth ears. Taste apart, they're just NO ****ING GOOD.
A new Amyl &The Sniffers album released this week. I've yet to listen to it and currently, we're not intending to go to any of the gigs, but the front cover features Amy flashing her tits at the camera... ...but they've been significantly blurred. Really? If you're gonna do it, DO IT LIKE YOU MEAN IT, BABY!!
Possibly a bit harsh on Queen - at least in part. And as a live act they - well, Mercury at least - were excellent. Mind you, I sampled Roger Taylor doing his best 'Do you know who I am?' ****, when trying to get himself, his wife, his 2 kids and their nanny upgraded for free on a flight from Cape Town to London. The cheapskate had booked in coach despite there being plenty of Upper seats available. How many £m's is he worth?? Twat!
I just never got them from the start, always thought they we're a Led Zep tribute act , could also be that some kids I knew liked them but they were a bunch of twats
Off to see The Undertones tomorrow at The Electric Ballroom...and then again on Saturday in Southampton. It made sense at the time....
Each to their own eh Bri!! I have got no time Queen or U2 if I am honest. But the first 2 Oasis albums, along with Early Blur, Pulp, Ocean Colour Scene, and various others (including 1 P Weller) that were cast under the net of Britpop helped us in the 90s escape from the scourge of Stock Aitken Waterman and awful music of the late 80s and early 90s, and for that I am grateful. But that was it, after Morning Glory they had peaked but I feel the same about a lot of acts from that period who released 1 or 2 good albums but couldn't maintain the quality.
Opinions are like arseholes, everyone's got one. Personally, I'm a bit sniffy about The Beatles, too. I don't really get being a fan of them, but do count myself as one of The Stones... Mrs B isn't having Bob Dylan at any price. She says he can't sing and can scarcely play the guitar. She hates harmonica players with a passion. Go figure! We all have our prejudices and irrational loves, it's what makes the world go round.
Well, I'm going ahead with the sale. In fact, after mentioning to friends that I was selling my collection I have already shifted 40 albums and have €600 in the kitty!! And the Record Fair isn't until tomorrow!!
How did the Record Fair go? Did a bloke smelling of cat piss ask if you had any Queen or Kiss albums? (he gets about a bit)
Haha...the closest I came to meeting anyone like that was an old local who wanted any Rory Gallagher!! It all went... A load actually sold at the asking price before the Fair, to a friend in London and a colleague of my missus. The Fair was a mixed bag: a great craigh and about 50% sold at a good price, but I decided to 'cut the cord' at the end so ( as the only private seller) sold the remainder to a trader for a relative pittance Oh well... that's all the old vinyl accounted for - now to organise the 400 CD's for the next Fair in the Spring!
What does a CD go for at these fairs ? Charity shops and car boots are between 50p and £1 unless it's the British heart foundation or Oxfam who want a fiver plus
There were a lot of general CD's on sale yesterday - and seemed that a lot sold. They were all advertised at €5 each or 3 for €12 and I imagine most went for those prices.
