This was played on Frank Skinner's show on Absolute Radio, this morning... ...he liked it a lot, and I agree with him.
RIP Denny Laine 79, so a good age and he was still performing up to a year or so ago. He wrote 'Go Now' for the Moody Blues and played with McCartney in Wings for years. A real British rock legend
And co-wrote Mull of Kintyre (although sold his rights to McCartney). Stayed in Wings through thick and thin whilst other dropped out regularly. Highlight of his time in the band was Band on the Run which was was just him and McCartney. Great album.
But he did write this for Colin Blunstone and it featured on his brilliant 1972 album Ennismore, which also carried 'I Don't Believe in Miracles'.
'Band on the Run' is a very fine album...even to my grizzled ears. My mum played it a lot, from when it came out, to when she stopped doing such things about 5 years ago. I think that I still have her cassette tape. RIP
As I want to retain as much of my genitalia as possible, I abstained from bidding on any Captain Sensible items. Having said the above, The Damned announced the 2nd gig @ The Roundhouse on Thursday 19th December 2024. It's an open secret that they're aiming to announce a 3rd gig on the Friday, subject to acceptable sales for the earlier two. In a rare example of restraint, Mrs B and I agreed to miss the Thursday and just go the 4 times in 8 days...or so I thought. Upon the Thursday night gig being announced, I received a WhatsApp message saying "I am having a case of the seconds, maybe we should go to all 3 nights in London?" Who's the addict?
With my long awaited prostate procedure upcoming a week on Monday, Mrs B has banned me from attending gigs. Rightly, she says that's where I'm likely to catch Covid. However, it means that I've had to pass up The Ruts, Suede and Spear of Destiny.... Wait until she sees the Ebay bill for the month...
Elvis Costello and Steve Nieve pre-sale tickets in 10 minutes. Going for Palladium tickets. Addendum: 2 seats in Row C of The Grand Circle duly purchased @ £65 each...plus a total of £20 in fees and other 'extras'... Still, it's only money.........and you can't take it with you.
Not sure whether I should wish you better luck for the op or the missus' reaction! I have my first cataract op on 21st, so I've lined up a Xmas panto spot as Captain Hook
Mr Smeeeeeeeeee! The first Panto I went to was Peter Pan at....The London Palladium. Lulu as Pan and the wonderful Ron Moody as Hook/Mr Darling. I was absolutely bowled over by it. I'm a BIG panto fan. For about 30 years we've attended the one at The Secombe Centre in Sutton. It's am dram, but you'd never know it. The kids don't attend anymore but we still do. Best wishes for the op!!!
If Brian Carries on buying tickets like he is , his procedure will be the least of his troubles when Mrs B sees the bill
I first saw Benjamin Zephaniah at a free concert in Brocklwell park in the 80s , I remember the Damned were also on the bill, no doubt Brian can tell us the date and the set list What was the concert in aid of ? Rock against racism?
My first Panto was I think Aladdin with Charlie Drake at the Palladium about 1965 , "hello my darlings" , I think Tommy Steele was also in it because " Little White Bull " rings a bell
Just seen this. 1976 members of The Damned and Ramones and who's that bloke with the ears photo bombing...? please log in to view this image
