...and it seems like there's some significant degree of security failure and poor planning leading to the chaos... https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news...ncert-crush-say-many-fans-outside-had-tickets ...I'd definitely contrast this with The Roundhouse, which is always well organised by staff who know what they're about and act with good humour whilst keeping the queues moving. Thoughts for the family and friends of the victims of this unnecessary tragedy..
When I were a lad it was deeply unfashionable to like the Carpenter's if you liked rock music but I always had a liking for the Carpenter's The BBC showed a concert that changed a lot of opinions about their music that night and to lose Karen was such a shame
I saw them in '77 at The Roundhouse, with The Adverts, supporting The Damned...and I managed to get in for nothing (the promoter, John Curd's son, Gav, was a school mate of my cousin). It was my third gig and I wasn't 15 for a couple of months... It opened my ****ing eyes, I can tell you that! Sifting around Youtube for Roundhouse/Motorhead/Damned/ Adverts stuff, I stumbled upon this, their first gig in '75... ...a reasonable bit of cross over with The Doomed/Les Punks with Lemmy.
Kirsty MacColl, accompanied by Alan Lee Shaw, backing vocals from Gary 'Wayne in Auf Wedersein Pet' Holton and the wonderful Mick Rossi from Slaughter and The Dogs...
I saw them in 81 and along with the blue oyster Cult I hold them responsible for my hearing loss and tinnitus, BOC started the damage but by 81 I started to use ear plugs and despite that motorhead blasted my ears
Another sad loss! RIP Terry Hall https://www.theguardian.com/music/2022/dec/19/terry-hall-lead-singer-of-the-specials-dies-aged-63
That is a terrible ****ing shock. A real talent but definitely a troubled soul, with bloody good reason for that. I was a fan of The Specials but my favourite record he was involved with, was the second Fun Boy 3 album, which is an absolute corker and the Colour Field stuff is great too. Thanks for everything.RIP.
