At least they'll be able to put the heating on occasionally this winter. It's looked really cold in that kitchen for the last few. She has a very loyal following, but I'm struggling to see too many Fripp fans turning out for this...backing band or no
I thought her lack of "support" (around the upper torso region) was precisely the reason you watch(ed) their YT channel.
During Lockdown, I had the time to keep abreast of music on a number of fronts. Getting the pair of 'em out on the road, to milk out some more money, is a bit of a boob, in my opinion and risks making tits of all involved...and will bring out the knockers.
New Metallica song: Motorhead intro, Diamond Head riffs. Quite Kill 'em All, if that album had modern production. It's alright, but not great.
please log in to view this image Finally, confirmation of the Friday 21 April gig appears! So, does anyone want to buy a pair of tickets for the Thursday...at a pig of a location to get to and from...on a school night...? Nah, me neither! Typically for us, having a daughter at Uni in one of the locations, ends up doing us no good whatsoever...Our youngest is studying in Southampton...but up until 2 days before that gig, she'll be at home during the holidays. Add in that hotels are hugely expensive there and that the Brighton gig is in the beautiful Brighton Dome...and Brighton it is!
Due to the current glut of fabulous gigs in the next 8 months and the insane price of everything else, I am currently banned from buying any non-essentials. Of course, that's when you see it....the item without which you can't go on breathing for another day....the t shirt that you'd long since discounted ever being able to see again, let alone own... please log in to view this image It's a t shirt from the gig that saw the band banned from Fairfield Halls (May 2002). It was a great gig - Patricia Morrison still on bass, but Pinch now on drums, with Eddie & The Hot Rods and The Blockheads as support. It was the start of the band returning from its lowest point and post-gig celebrations got out of hand and the bar was trashed by the band (mostly Pinch)...and a few helpers.. At the recent launch of TNOATV video, Mrs B asked if there was any chance of a return...? With significant regret, admitting that it was all their own fault, they said that it was impossible for it to happen... The t shirt...? Of course, it's in America...and will cost a fortune to import into the UK, but.....
It's the 50th anniversary of the release of the original Pong video game. Also, this song and it's video are ****ing stupid.
****ing hell! I remember first seeing one of those in a service station in what must have been '73 and being completely transfixed by it. My old man was an accountant and had an electronic calculator that was the size of a suitcase about 3 years previously but this was a game changer (sorry!). However, the novelty wore off pretty quickly and the next and last time I played a computer game, was a Wii with the kids. I found out that with a hangover, I was brilliant at the target shooting game....maybe I should go and live in the States?
Wow that brought back memories. When I was 16 I hitchhiked around Europe with a mate and he was playing that piece all the time. He was the star at all the youth hostels with his performance of the piece.
I saw Andre's Segovia of all places Brent town hall in the 70s play this and have loved it ever since , I had never heard of him but a friend of my Dads dragged me along, what an education that night was
I saw Segovia at the Fairfield Hall in Croydon. He looked like an old man until he sat down with his guitar. The man who re invented classical guitar, glad I saw him.
I can remember our Dad doing his crust at me and my brother because we played Pong non stop over a Christmas because in those days it would burn the image into the TV tube and it left a ghost of the game on the screen
Hopefully, a rented TV? My dad would have beaten the **** out of us for that...if he'd sprung for such a thing as Pong. We were encouraged to play chess and Scrabble. Subbuteo was permitted but not encouraged... Mrs B and I were reminiscing the other day, about our first home together and renting a TV and video recorder. It must have been the late 90's before we bought those things. Tiny little ****ing thing it was, probably 24" on a stand with wheels.
