I have tickets for the Portsmouth and Bournemouth Damned shows (the night before my birthday and the actual night of my 60th). Truly, I am like a dog with 2 dicks today. The Portsmouth show was sold out in a flash. Lots of mates were also trying for that night. Currently, only 2 others claiming success for a venue holding only 400 people, so, it's likely a number will have missed out. Today is a good day!
The joy of the impending 'Brian's 60th Birthday Outing' has caused Mrs B to go 'phantasmagorically gothmental' and book the night of our birthday stay in Bournemouth in this... please log in to view this image ...the King's Suite in Langtry Manor Hotel, the former residence of Lillie Langtree, famous actress and mistress to the future King Edward VII. They're going to absolutely love me at reception...in that suit.... The night before, after the Portsmouth gig, we're in a Premier Inn to save a few quid....
80s sounding music with a video cut from an 80s film, which seems to be the theme of the channel. Jennifer Connelly. Still looks great at 51. please log in to view this image
I picked this CD up today the local charity shop, Blue Nile Hats fo 50p and the shop assistant said we have more of their CDs out the back so I got Walk across the rooftops and High for £1.50 , gave a £5.00 cos I felt guilty
I actually stayed in that Hotel in March (not in the KIngs Suite mind), its rather quaint and a nice base for a short stay; breakfast (at the hotel across the road) is superb. And yes they will adore you in that suit, but as the staff are mainly eastern European you may not be able to gauge their reaction as easily as you would if they were English!
The breakfast across the road seemed a bit odd but it's good to hear that it worked out ok and it was a good stay. We got a really good deal on the suite. The normal price (with breakfast) is £230. We're paying £100 less. It was more than £80 for the Premier Inn and Travelodge, so it's not particularly extravagant when compared to the alternatives. Tbh, I'd sleep in a ditch to see The Damned on my 60th birthday, but fish and chips on the beach, a few ciders and sleeping in an historic location does it for me and Mrs B. It looks like perfect day ahead...
As today is Billy Joel's birthday, it would be rude to let the day go past without his best-known masterpiece...
