Chelsea have had many good players over the year but one of the few that I wished had played for Spurs was Pat Nevin , not for his skill but more for his love of music and politics, I remember seeing his profile in a magazine once and his love of the Jesus and Mary Chain which went against the grain with his team mates who were into the usual pop and rnb of the day , his autobiography " the accidental footballer is an excellent read , a good insight into his love of indie music and the arts and politics
OK so who can remember what they were doing 42 years ago today? I've just found out that Timmy Thomas passed away last week , he made one of my all time favourite songs , RIP and travel well TT
Was that information courtesy of Robert Elms by any chance? It's just that he played TT on his show this morning and later commented that he'd just found out that he'd recently died.
I heard it from 6 music and a mate who was a big soul fan back in the 70s and he had seen him play a couple of times
I may have been a bit ratty here lately, the 4 songs above were my 4 choices for my Mums cremation service this afternoon. Less than 5 months after we lost Dad, It has been a rough time that has really put 'football' into perspective. My Mum loved her music and singers of this ilk, my brother described her in the eulogy as bit of a 'groupie' we have signed photos and messages from Ronnie Hilton, Lonnie Donegan, Des O'Connor, and Tommy Steele.
