In case anyone missed it, this is because their ground was his last open air venue or something. It's tenuous, I must admit, but it's not a bad kit and there him been flimsier excuses used.
I have just seen that Nicky Tesco has passed away - such sad news The Members were one of my favourite bands and At The Chelsea Nightclub was a truly great album RIP Nicky
Very sad news. A clever band, with Tesco's lyrics front and centre in that. Solitary Confinement would definitely find a place on my juke box, when/if Mrs B ever lets me have one... RIP.
Yes, I know I'm the only prog guy on this feckin' Forum, but a live gig is a live gig - and Pineapple Thief were absolutely buzzing in Barcelona blast night! Great to be back at a concert - even in a mask!
There's just no decent rock or metal gigs in London for the foreseeable future, which is pretty bizarre. Got to see Paradise Lost again at the Electric Ballroom last week and they were good, as usual, but nothing coming up.
Ahem, not the only one, I'm a veteran from the 70 prog rock wars having seen , Yes , Genesis, Greenslade, Gentle Giant, Pink Floyd , King Crimson , Jethro Tull , I could go on but I have to wash my loon pants Forgot Rick Wakeman on ice, if that ain't prog I give up
If you mention Greenslade then that certainly cements your credibility in my eyes! (I'd throw in UK and the eponymous 'England' as other stalwarts of the genre.) Have a feeling that together we could absolutely bore the **** out these punks and reclaim the thread for prog!
I have a place in my heart for most music prog, punk, rock, metal, jazz, soul classical, pop, folk will all be found on my turntable but it might be my age I always return to the late 60s to mid 70s where I find my true love , the bands and artists at that time are my go to, Joni Mitchell, Neil young, Traffic,LedZep,who,Steely Dan ,The Grateful Dead ,Santana , all bands I have seen many times in an age where the true fans got to see them at an affordable price , no corporate boxes, no special areas for the VIPs and no internet where you just logged on with a credit card to buy overpriced tickets, you had to get off your arse and queue Having said that I am no dinosaur and listen to new bands , current favourites are Wet Leg , Fountains DC, Alt J and next week going to see a real love of mine an American artistl called Sarah Jarosz ,her last album " blue Heron Suit " is a real tonic for the soul . Anyway I will man the prog rock barricades any day , Yours is no disgrace ......
I came across her courtesy of this amazing performance on YouTube that just appeared one day in my recommended videos. Probably going to ruffle a few feathers when I say I always thought Prince was seriously overrated, always felt like that little boy with his "Oi, you've got no clothes on!" Consequently it was more out of idle interest to see what she was going to do with it bearing in mind it looked like she was holding a mandolin in the image but she absolutely blew me away. Btw I wasn't aware she was playing in the UK currently as I hadn't seen anything listed but I'd love to see her live as I'd imagine she'd be something else!
Sorry it was my typo, she toured with a transatlantic bluegrass group of bands ,I saw her at the Southbank on Feb 11th , some good bands on show but Sarah was my highlight , one of the main reasons for going was to buy her latest album on vynyl but sadly it had sold out ,not available in the UK that I can find and I refuse to pay import duty from the USA, your right about the Mandolin, she plays it on a lot of her later songs it's a Fletcher Brock Octave Mandolin , also a big word up for her double bass player Jeff Pickers
