On Saturday, me and Mrs B are off to The 100 Club to see this lot... ...we've ended up with a spare ticket and some mates also have a spare available. Both Friday's and Saturday's gigs are sold out. They're a good tight band and great night out. If anyone's interested, mine will 'Stay Free', whilst it's available. I'll make sure my mates don't 'Cheat' you on the other. So, I guess the only question is...'Should I Stay Or Should I Go?' If there's any interest, let me know asap, as I'll be offering the tickets elsewhere to ensure that they get used. Addendum: The tickets have been taken....don't say I didn't offer them to you...
It’s a ripe old age in the rock n roll world though. Not the first rock n roll Joey to die before reaching 50
Back in '82 I got my first proper job and was seated opposite a real 60's head. He was a really funny bloke and we got on great. We started swapping stories and then albums. One of the first that he lent me was Tres Hombres. It's a top album...but I couldn't resist telling him that Motorhead's version of 'Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers' was far better than the original. I'm not sure that I believed that then...but I had to wind him up somehow.
So, we went to The 100 Club on Saturday... It was pretty empty. I would estimate nearer to 150 punters than 200, in a venue that was sold out and holds 350. I'm not sure if numbers were limited or people with tickets decided not to risk it. No masks in evidence, other than all the staff wearing them. All in all, it was great to be back. A great night out that was only slightly spoiled by a mate getting so ****ered that, at the end of the gig, he was found collapsed on the floor covered in vomit...and me and Mrs B had to carry him to Tottenham Court Road, off at Morden and get him on and off a bus and walk to our place. Rightly, no cab would touch him.
I've known him since I was 14 or 15. He has a long history of unknowingly leaving total chaos in his wake. He is in looks and demeanour, the twin brother of the original drummer in The Commitments...with all the same personality traits... please log in to view this image I've lost count of the number of times that friends have had to come to his rescue. Another mate who was there said..."He has a god-given talent for being oblivious to the chaos he causes". Most of us know someone like this. If you don't, there's a fair chance that it's you...
Talking of drummers , do you know a guy who is a drummer in a Damned tribute band who also drums in a blues bros tribute ?
It's not ringing any bells. A mate of Mrs B's used to play covers including Damned stuff...and last year was offered the job in The Damned...and he turned it down...
