That's a bit of a shock. I saw them only a few months ago and he looked as fit as... RIP.

Off to The Roundhouse to see the Psychedelic Furs on Saturday.

I can't overstate how impressive their first 2 albums were...

After that, they lost their way for a while but still a good night out with a great back catalogue. Support is provided by Wendy James, much beloved by men of a certain vintage and could have been the inspiration for the above 2 tracks?

    .............Tickets are still available.

I love Talk Talk Talk its one of my favourites and it was Weller listing it as one of his favourites that put me on to it.
I saw Wendy James and Transvision Vamp in the 80s she wore a T Shirt and that was about it not sure anyone listened much to the music which is a shame they were actually quite good

Paul Weller and Suggs both voted Talk Talk Talk their album of '81 in the NME. That's a fairly varied audience with the same opinion. They weren't wrong.

Tonight, I was at The Dominion Theatre watching Big - the musical (a veritable mixed bag) and recalled seeing The Furs there in late 81. They were great that night and real stardom seemed within their grasp but it never quite came their way. It's strange how so many bands get within a fraction of really making it, only to self-destruct.

Their later stuff doesn't hit the same heights but this was good and played a bit faster and a lot harder, it could have been great...

No footage of last night's gig, as yet. Here's footage from a few days ago, in Brighton, of the encore from last night, 'India' from the first album. You can't hear the bass and drums, which were cataclysmic last night. Trust me, they were.

A special performance, more to follow, as it arrives..

From Saturday night. This is the way to end a set...

Great band...especially the sax player. I love bands where the sax player plays throughout the whole song, like X-Ray Spex and early Furs stuff. They weren't the same after the original sax, Duncan Kilburn left. Now, they're back and with a new song in the set. Significant, as there's not been a studio album of new material since 1991.

Here, the ubiquitous Pretty in Pink, which pleasingly, was played mid-set with no fanfare...

So far, no footage of 'Into You Like A Train', which for me, was the standout of the night.

If they play near you, definitely go.

These days, any new release from The Damned is well worth celebrating and we have a bew single marking their forthcoming gigs at Madison Square Gardens and The London Palladium.

Unfortunately, Mrs B has put the mockers on a quick jaunt to New York for the 20th but The Palladium's on for the 28th. In between, the boys play the majesty that is Wolverhampton. Rock and Roll's a fickle mistress, eh lads?

Still, the new single sounds like a cross between Naz Nomad and The Phantom Chords, which means it's heavily retro but has much better production than Tony Visconti's last effort on the Evil Spirits album. Enjoy...
