The Dammned have announced Johnny Moped as the support to the UK Tour in November/December. The guitarist and drummer were formerly in my mates' band Los Conos, here performing Safe European Home (as suggested by some bloke called Brian) - good choice, mate. Here they are as Johnny Moped.......any chance of backstage passes?
For Geoffrey....... Does anyone know why Bungle walked around stark bollock naked all day and then wore pyjamas to bed?................No, me neither.
As a bear, Bungle would be ****ting in the woods. Doing it in the dark, wearing pyjamas and without a torch is gonna ruin the flannel. He'd have been better off with just a dressing gown.
He's still far too handsome for my liking. Whereas the years have taken their toll on most of us, Dave's portrait is the only thing that's ageing. At every gig there's a group of ladies of a certain age that follow him from one side of the stage to the other. The singing of 'Eloise' normally swells their ranks considerably. Once that's done, they melt back into the audience. There were a hell of a lot of them in Southampton. Some red roses were thrown on stage. Dave threw one back, to be caught by some bloke. He didn't have it for long. One of 'Dave's Bitches' marched up, stripped it off him and stomped off. She was not going to be stopped. Dave had definitely thrown it to her. DEFINITELY! This is for those ladies......Dave in the shower....
The Clash live in 1980. I'm not sure that life gives up too much that's better than they were about then, It's a shame that it's in Paris because "Young Parisians are so French...." and there's nothing coming back from the crowd. Still, it's a top performance of a band on the up and particularly, Topper's pre-drug performances were something to behold. What a drummer he was....amazing. Enjoy!
Every street music is the product of its time and the drugs that its creators took. This is the sound of London at the end of the 70's - amphetamines, football violence, unemployment, etc. It's the sound of Britain dying, the sound of people that knew that Margaret Thatcher wasn't the answer but was about to make the problem worse. It's my youth and made by people who lived in my city at that time. I love it like Spurs and my children. I'll be posting more soon.....
