They get credited often - along with The Stooges (obvs). The Who take some beating though - massive influence on many punk and non punk bands. Where would the Gallagher tw*ts be without them?
On the 50 years ago, the "transition" "organ shuffle" tracks (before the beast was fully unleashed) ...
A lot of bands credit these guys and they were/are British....sounds like proto-Punk to me...there's also the beginnings of Motorhead in there with Larry Wallis and the band's friendship with Hawkwind and Lemmy... Did someoone say The Buzzcocks?
It'll have been a weird week. First up, Wembley on Sunday for a bizarre game. Last night, Mrs B and I went to see Chess at the stunningly beautiful London Coliseum - you should go, if you've never been there before but not to this production. Despite lots of good reviews, it wasn't for me at all. It's been 30 years off the London stage....and you could see why. Marooned in the 80's, it should have been left there - Wasn’t it good? No. This weekend, by contast, it's the UK Subs at the 100 Club. Ah, the memories and due to noise restrictions at the venue, I get to keep some of my remaining hearing. So, it's a real contrast from me.....
Just seen an advert for 'National Cupcake Day' on Dave featuring this as the background music..... Seriously, WTF? The Clash and Cupcakes? Still, a great bit of footage of The Clash live at the peak of their powers, of which there is so very little. Overdubbed to the max but what are you gonna do?
