This is a performance from The Damned that is [in]famous for how bad it was. I've actually seen worse, when The Captain was so pissed he couldn't stand up and played lying on the floor and Rat walked off in a huff and they played without a drummer.

On this occasion, Dave was slipped an enormous amount of acid and was incapable of performing as he couldn't remember a single lyric, although he can be seen wandering around on stage from time to time. So, the Captain tried to do the lead vocals. Unfortunately he's completely pissed and so they end up getting some bloke from the audience to do the honours....

This is only one of three appearances in well over 40 years without Dave. So, who took on the honours for those other 2 dates in Scotland in The Doomed era of 1978?

CLUE: 5 years later, he later became a famous actor in a much loved TV series but is now, no longer with us.

Glam rock was made for punk covers (with a bit of Lemmy thrown in)

Apparently, that's pretty much all Motorhead as The Damned were wasted by the time it got to recording time. Dave on vocals though...

So any idea on the Damned's guest vocalist just months after this was recorded?

He sang at this gig, when they were booked as The Doomed but played as 'The Nightmares of the Dark' claiming that Dave was dead...The gig was stopped due to 'trouble'...it was ever thus.

Friday night's SLF/Ruts DC gig at The O2 Forum [The Town and Country Club] was fabulous. I've taken to going to venues away from London recently, in an attempt to see acts that I know very well through different eyes. My conclusion is that you will struggle to beat an audience like 2 nights' ago in a classic London venue. When a band walks out to a riotous welcome of fans that are going to 'Go For It' and match and raise the band's enthusiasm, everyone knows that a great night's in the offing.

Both bands were great. Close your eyes and be 16, 17, 18 again. They sound as vibrant and alive as ever they did. 2 class acts at £26 is some great bargain. I'd better die before these acts do, as the adrenalin shot is invigorating and the only possible comparison to standing on The Shelf in the 70's and 80's. Here's a whole load of people old enough to know better, going completely mental...Ahhh bliss.

Norn Iron gave us SLF and The Undertones.
If there was ever a World Cup of punk, they'd be so hard to beat (like teenage dreams :emoticon-0105-wink:)

Very proud of my Norn Iron roots - Big Pat's hands, Gerry Armstrong's World Cup, SLF, The Undertones, Liam Neesom, Bushmills. The Outcasts, The DeLorean, Joey Dunlop, Van the Man and these guys...

I put up Alternative Ulster from Friday's gig and have been waiting for something from The Ruts. I'm pretty sure this was first up and the ability of 3 guys to fill the auditorium with sound was striking. If you get a chance to see them, do yourself a favour and go...

HBIC's sort of right, right? Here's some early B52's [original name - not B52s as it is now]. I hoe they're gonna come back to these shores....currently no gigs outside the States.

This popped up in my suggestions, because I'd watched a couple of Larkin Poe clips on the same channel:

Both acts have the same problem.
They seem to sound great live and their releases are over-produced to ****, taking all the edge off.
