Even if he wasn't involved in the first team for a few years, he still might be a worthwhile investment, as long as we still sort out our current strike force for the coming season. I think it's media bullshit, personally, but I'm not against investing in youth.
Me neither, Thor. Never heard of him. It seems to be the way things are now, there's so much competition for any class player - or prospect. You pay your money, and take your chance.
PNP That is the point, we need to get the current season sorted out first, I cannot see this lad helping our cause at the moment and 8 mil could be put towards a proven striker. I am sure there will be other 16 year old prospects in the future at more realistic money
We don't know where we stand with our current transfer targets though, Coys. We might be quite far along and able to spare €8m, who knows?
FFS, u said the size of the town was smaller than Ashford. I'm not saying he would be an immediate impact but wanted to know why the physical size of a town he plays in matters to if we sign him or not.
Tottenham will battle Premier League rivals Manchester City for the signature of French wonderkid M'Baye Niang. The 16-year-old striker burst onto the scene last season with a superb cameo for Caen towards the end of the campaign. He only made his debut in April but still managed three goals in seven games before the end of the season. Niang is tipped as one of France's top talents and both club and country have big hopes for the youngster. City have begun sounding out a possible move, but Harry Redknapp's side seem to be in the driving seat with Caen claiming Spurs have already made a firm offer of a package worth £7 million. The White Hart Lane side hope to tempt Niang with the offer of better opportunities for first-team football.
That's a tad generous, Ensil. I would have placed his mental age still in single figures. Along with his I.Q.
The thing with all the strikers we're likely to snap up (Leandro, AP-W and now Niang) is that they all appear to be players who might be held back for a fe wmonths, then introduced into the team post-January to give it an adrenaline boost. On the one hand that's a good idea as it will inject some momentum into the squad without having to flail around in the January Transfer Window, on the other we should be signing a striker who can play right away instead of rely on Defoe, Pav and Crouch to produce the good when they clearly didn't last season, because I can't see all three of them being capable of doing so.
