We are all reaping the benifits of careful develpment of young talent today, in the form of young Bale.

Bale has always been an exceptional talent thou, and has been well managed up untill recently.
We saw his potential before he arrived from Southamton., that was Six years ago.
Bales talent has been nurtered, and quite rightly so,. he wasn't thrown into any deep end.

Why take the risk of breaking young Holtby's heart or on distroying his confidence, all at once., when all we have to do is introduce him to the hustle and bustle of the EPL in easy to swallow stages.

  2. See where you are coming from Bajan, but Holtby is hardly a wet-behind-the-ears newbie. He has been cutting it in in the Bundesliga for 100 games or so and is a full international.

If he was a teenager I might agree Bajan, he is not he's 22 an international and, I understand, with 100 Bundesligia appearances. That's what 3 seasons at top level, more than enough time in my view. Anyway why pay extra to bring his transfer forward if he is not ready and able to play in the first 11. Makes no sense does it! If you were right Spurs would have simply waited for the end of the season and brought him in for nothing.

Don't get me wrong Spurf., I'm not advocating we wait 'till the end of the season to play the guy. No, No, No that wouldn't help anybody.

His bedding in period might well be shortened because of his experience,. but much of this game is played in the mind, at this level.

Anyway under the present circumstances, I would not give him a home debut against this Newcatle side. They could easily put the kibwash on things. Maybe an away debut at West Ham, then if he's ready., a home debut against Arsenil.
