Barsy was very good, real Walcott-like pace, he was s..t hot in the 100m in athletics aswell! There was 3 of us speedsters at the time, though Mark was older (and still is thankfully! ), no matter he was quicker every time. In local circles, his brother was debatably better technically, but the attitude was all wrong, and as for what he's up to now you'd rather not know! Haven't seen Barsy for a considerable time now, but he popped up randomly in a newspaper a few months ago, the paper did an article on Asa Hartford and in the photo they used, Asa and Mark are holding a handle each of the league cup, it was a look twice moment...I know the owner of that terrible (mous)tache!
I didn't realise you actually knew Barham. I've just checked on him and he now has his own tool-hire company called Rent A Tool on the Sprowston Road in Norwich. Do you remember Peter Mendham who played in the same side as him ?? He got boozed up a few years ago, had an argument with his lady and then stabbed her and he's just spent time for attempted manslaughter. Mendham actually lived in the same road as me when I was based in Norwich and although I never had a conversation with him , he was reckoned to be an all round decent fella. There was a time when there were strong links between Norwich and Spurs with several players going to Carrow Road. The current Norwich number two, Ian Culverhouse spent time at WHL, and Martin Peters also played for both clubs, as did Jimmy Neighbour. I think it went a bit sour a few years ago when we lent them Troy Archibald-Henville and Glen Roeder who was manager there at the time, refused to play him and Troy eventually told them to stuff it and walked out.
Barsy was same school as me, but not the same year, never went about socially and he's not on my Xmas card list if you get my drift, just a 'how you doin' type thing. Rent a 'Tool'...I'd love to tell him that name is perfect! Don't know Mendham and from what you've said I'll keep it that way! It is surprising the players that have been at Spurs and Norwich, the list THFC61 did on his match thread on here when we played them, its as long as yer arm!
I think Harry recognises that the 4411 depends on just this, so playing eg Rose instead of Bale and Defoe instead of Adebayor leads to two opposition players being freed up and the system no longer works. That is in essence why I prefer 4231 as it is more solid and less personnel dependent. I also think Sandro is 'better' than Lennon. 4231 without Bale and Adebayor would mean having Lennon and Saha in the side which doesn't weaken us so much.
Modric is far less effective in an advanced position though, PS. We also have no idea whether Rose and Saha are effective replacements for Bale and Adebayor, as Redknapp won't pick them in that system. We're not at all solid when we play with two holding players, either. It seems to create confusion between them and invite pressure, as we don't threaten as much.
If we are going to change the system we need to practice it! Another reason we look all at sea when anything changes Harry has done well for us but he has big weaknesses
Just to confirm-I am not Jon Champion. Now if a tv commentator has noticed our manager's strange tactics recently..... By the way in the 40 mins that was played yesterday was there any sign of normal service resumed or was it still wtf?
