Yeh I love a bit of that. I could pretty much survive on Moroccan chicken, veggies and cous cous.

It was going so well until you mentioned cous cous... what is that stuff? It's like if you got that yellow sponge from your sofa and put it in a nutri-bullet.

I love Moroccan food though apart from that crap.

Cook it in vegetable or chicken stock. Makes a big difference. Otherwise it is bland.

It's the texture, no can do, sorry... all the more for you though Stan <ok>
Fair enough.

I don't like some puréed foods because of the texture.

My baby food days are behind me.

When I see mums eat baby food to encourage their kids to try some it makes me want to hurl Wayne's World style.

I'm still suffering the after effects of sciatica. My left ankle is constantly sore. I need to get back on the treadmill but am worried that it will **** the nerve up. That isn't a pain I want to experience again!

Do some Yoga mate. I had terrible back / leg pain from Sciatica / nerve impingement. You don't have to try and get your legs behind your head or levitate like a Guru, but some gentle stretching works wonders. <ok>

Yeh, I know I should do that. Our doctor friend is insistent that I should do Pilates. Might be a good way to get a bit of strange :emoticon-0103-cool:

Do it. Your body will thank you. A really easy stretch is to lie on your back, bring your knees to your chest, grab your knees and gently roll from side to side. That should help give you some relief from the sciatic pain. Google some stretches to help Sciatia, there are lots of easy ones that give good relief.

Exactly Cook in chicken stock add a few cooked chick peas some dried fruit and some chopped peppers....very tasty and very nutritious. <ok>

It's called jewelled cous cous I think.

With a decent stock and some chopped bits and pieces it's nice. I only like a bit though, you couldn't have a plate full like with rice or pasta.

Or could you? Maybe you love it.

****ing hell mate, the thread is Spurlock's gym, what kind of example is that to set?

Seriously though, if you're waiting to feel 100% ready, it'll never come, there'll always be something putting you off, because you don't get the 'addiction' if you like, until you start seeing results. The first few are ****, then they get easier.

I always focus on the hardest things to do, such as dips, pull ups, deadlifts, squats... the way I see it, once I can do them, then I can do everything.

I remember attempting dips for the first time, I think I got about 1.5 reps out, it was embarrassing. Pull ups I couldn't do any, so had to start with a resistance band for assistance... then one day you can do 3 sets of 10 unassisted and it feels great.

If you add press ups to that that's pretty much all you need to do.

I've not done dips or pull ups for years though. Partially as Spurlock says, I don't trust myself to not go to the gym and struggle with them on full view, and partially because I don't trust my elbows. I get tennis elbow periodically in my right arm and I'd be wary of it buckling.

I used to be able to bang out the dips though, cracking bit of exercise.

Still do deadlifts and squats on a weekly basis.

Think us amateurs all have ankle/knee probs. Me too..i kind of fell out of love with playing because i wasnt doing my immense prowess any justice..i havent kicked a ball in anger for about 5 years, but i still hope to do so...when i lose the excess...had standards on the pitch fam.

It catches us all, I wish I could have played on for longer at the standard I was at but then when I was playing 5 s side I was still enjoying it, when I had to stop all together it pissed me off but I was lucky that my oldest then went through all the academy stuff at Swans and Cardiff and with a local academy where I was able to follow him so it eased the pain of not playing myself.

Pullups are probably my single favourite exercise, the best way to avoid the embarrassment is an isometric pull up. That way, if you fail on your first, it looks like it's exactly what you set out to do.

Just means you'll have to do a few more, cos nobody does just one iso then walks off.
