Not bad bro....13th fast today Testing mentally...I can feel the affects at times now but it's manageable. Clocks go forward next weekend...that will make it interesting for the last 10 or so
I've not eaten meat for one day, this Christian stuff is a doddle. Coffee and cake for breakfast, no lunch. Calamari and then salmon for an evening meal.
When Jesus was put on the cross they starved him You all should be starving for the day too not eating chocolate eggs n rabbits n tings
. I'm not celebrating Easter for Jesus. I'm celebrating it for Ēoster, the pagan fertility goddess. I'm not into this newfangled repurposing proper pagan holidays for Christian stuff.
The Good Friday fish thing is definitely linked to abstinence but it's a poor comparison to Ramadan. There's no way that Western culture would adopt such extreme behaviour/devotion to religious symbolism. It's all too easy. There's still devotion or at least comfort in the rituals that come with the Christian calender though. A bit more effort and belief in the basics wouldn't be a bad thing in this country at the moment, the basic teachings have become lost.
Closest I think to fasting is the period of Lent if followed properly init? But Christianity as you say has become weak.
Yes lent is a longer period but it has become weak and hardly mentioned so that people don't have to give up something. It's not like it's difficult either as you can give up something you don't even like very much like talking to @Diego or posting on the Millwall forum. Personally I've swapped everything that I'm supposed to do with a mind too remembering people and spending time with my family, forgiving people and stuff like that, just trying to be a good person based on what I was taught as a child. It's something.
Depends on denomination. Catholics and Anglicans , yes. Some other protestant denominations no... And if you ask the Baptists they would consider it sacrilegious.
