it's worth noting that despite what everyone is claiming ... BALE WAS NOT SOLD at the time and that is all that is worth anything. It is ironic that gooners are posting links up to the then brum manager (mcliesh) as proof ... ain't he the same brum manager who claimed the player that crippled eduardo was not "that kind of player"?

as for ramsey ... it was shocking the abuse he got ... it's a real horrible thing in football ... players are slaughtered when they struggle but we demand total loyalty from them

Why exactly are you brining a serious leg injury into this just to score some petty points <doh>

To show what an idiot McLeish was? That "point" was in agreement with Arsenal supporters.

No one is scoring points. I cannot see what you mean. RCL is saying that McLeish is an idiot and as an example he used something that all Arsenal supporters should take as confirmation. Jesus, you guys like a row over nothing!

this thread is for Spuds to declare their opinion that any of the players that they bought with the Bale money are still worth the money they spent on them/now worth more/less, so that we can come back to them at end of season/when they have been offloaded and compare prices/opinions.

so please can they get back on thread [as what has Ramsey got to do with this FFS]

so please can they state what they paid and current estimated worth.

    for example
    Paulinho £17,000,000 current value is
Nacer Chadli £7,000,000 current value is
Roberto Soldado £25,800,000 current value is
Etienne Capoue £8,600,000 current value is
Christian Eriksen £11,000,000 current value is
Erik Lamela £25,800,000 current value is
Vlad Chiriches £8,500,000 current value is
so Total spend £103,700,00 current value is £

I would say £10m each, except Eriksen (£25m) and Lamela (£25m). So about £100m. Obviously Soldado has depreciated a fair bit, as has Paulinho. The others have maintained and Eriksen has appreciated. But who really knows.

The reason that I bought Ramsey up on this thread was to prove that sometimes players can improve significantly from one to season to another.

Of course you are all going to tell me that you all knew that he was going to be a potential player of the year last season before a ball was kicked despite the fact that is plenty of evidence to counter that on this very forum, and it is possible that some of these Spurs players that you are claiming were a complete waste of money may have good seasons this time around we will just have to wait and see.

I am sure you are all expecting your own very expensive signing from last season to improve on the back of having been here for a year now, because he certainly didn't always live up to his billing as the worlds best ' number 10' too often last season (or in the summer for that matter).

Ozil was one of our best and most important players last season and has amongst the best stats for goals and assists from his position as well as passes in the opposition half/area and clear cut chances created.

He had a patch where he was obviously tired and his form dipped but otherwise he was quality. Considering it was his first season in the prem, in a new country and more physical league where there is no winter break you'd have to agree he had a very good first season.

I'm very much expecting him to take it up another level this season as well.

Oh and in the summer he won himself a World Cup winners medal ;)

Not sure why people keep trying to say that Ozil didn't have a decent season, because he did. He scored 5 and made 9 assists. He had an 88% success pass rate and averaged almost 3 key passes per game to create goal scoring chances. As for not having a very good summer ? He won the World Cup with Germany.

Also, I have always been very consistent on Ramsey. He is a top quality player, even when he was struggling coming back from injury he worked hard and kept improving slowly. There was no doubt in my mind that he would come back stronger than before his injury.

It remains to be seen what happens to Spurs' signings. Eriksen looks good and I think Paulinho is very good player. As for the rest, my personal view is that Spurs paid well over the odds for them and I don't see them improving to match the hefty price tags.

And that's 5 goals and 9 assists in the league. Overall for us last season he had 7 goals and 14 assists.

    Wtf are you on about?
I have not and will not use a serious injury to anyone as an excuse to point score.
Wind your neck and read what I wrote.

Even better. That is a decent season by anybody's standards for a midfield player. But seeing as it was his first in the PL too then it's a really good return. I think anybody who watched Ozil last season will know how good a player he is.

    soldado ... 11 goals and 7 assists last season...under 2 different **** managers...if we sold him today i reckon £15m
Chiriches...injured for lots of last season...value the same £8.5m
    capoue...similar to chiriches....value the the same £8.6m
Lamela...started just 10 matches last season...only started 3 prem games...****s know how to work it but with potential and his record in italy at least £15m
Chadli...there is a player (decent not great) in there somewhere...on last seasons showing £6m
    Paulinio...biggest disappointment imo £10m
Eriksen...did very well in a team that struggled. value now around £22m
    total £85.1m

interesting that lamela no longer cost us £30m as well!

this season is what will decide whether or not that money was wasted...another poor season ... performance wise will see those figures change dramatically.
If they all repeat last seasons performances then they will all be worth half of my guesses at best apart from eriksen who will be on his way to real or barca for £35m

This thread can be summed up as Spurs are a deluded club with a deluded chairman and deluded fans who think they have a world class squad because they spent all their Bale money. A few bad results next season and I can see a melt down on a catastrophic level.

Paulinho £17,000,000 current value is £12,000,000
Nacer Chadli £7,000,000 current value is £7,000,000
Roberto Soldado £25,800,000 current value is £6,000,000
Etienne Capoue £8,600,000 current value is £8,000,000
Christian Eriksen £11,000,000 current value is £15,000,000
Erik Lamela £25,800,000 current value is £10,000,000
Vlad Chiriches £8,500,000 current value is £7,000,000
so Total spend £103,700,00 current value is £65,000,000

Not too much of a write-down. But next year it'll be even worse. Some may even leave on frees.
