I'd also keep Simonsig over hurdles, and go for next years Champion Hurdle because even if he does win next years Arkle, he's not going to beat SS after that.

I know I have been banging Simonsig's drum for a while but he could be equally as good over fences. He is a far better hurdler than Sprinter Sacre and he's not a good jumper of hurdles either. I think he'll be much better over fences. I might be alone, but I think he is at least as exciting.

As for the prices, it is ludicrous that Big Buck's is still available as big as 2/9 for such a mickey mouse race. Don't complain, just lump on. He should be much shorter.

Ludicrous from you Zen and I'm a massive Simonsig fan. We'll see if he jumps well enough, but very early to say - to be honest I'd fancy him as Champion Hurdler next year if he didn't go chasing. But it seems likely that he will, in which case I'll fancy him for the Arkle (although not at 4/1 11 months ante-post!).

But suggesting he'll beat SS before he's jumped a fence is optimistic to say the least.

As for Sprinter Sacre, I don't think there's any need to step him up - he'll slaughter the CHampion chase next season, and unless one of the novices is surprisingly good, probably the season after, but I wouldn't step him up when he's that good at 2m.

I was only joking. He will clearly need to be doubly exceptional to beat Sprinter Sacre.

Sprinter Sacre is an excellent jumper, has the profile of a chaser and his long stride gives him a chance of staying further.


For my mind though, he is quite an agressive jumper, attacks fences and likes to go on. 3 mile races tend to be rhythmical, and I'm not sure his style suits at the moment. He might well mellow out and be really relaxed between fences as he gets older, in which case he might have a chance.


For now though, lets hope he stays fit and healthy and that he can become a Champion Chaser.

Zenyatta.....As you should know hurdling form is irrelavent, particularly when your talking about the hurdling form of Sprinter Sacre, as he was only 5, and very green. He has been a completely different horse this year.

To say Simonsig would destroy him, is one of the most ridiculous comments I've ever read. You clearly have an agenda against SS, as he continually proved you wrong all season. To think you actually questioned his jumping after his debut at Doncaster, apparently he wasn't as efficient as......Wait for it........Peddlers Cross!!

Then after he hammered Peddlers Cross at Kempton, you were adamant Peddlers Cross would reverse form at Cheltenham, and SS 'won't get up the hill'

So rather than just giving in, and admitting Sprinter Sacre is a beast, you've jumped ship from that flop Peddlers Cross, and are harping on about Simonsig lowering his colours

Obviously it has to be the Champion Chase next season. After that it would be madness not to explore whether he stays further. There have of course been great two-milers who remain in the memory but great Gold Cup winners will always have a higher standing in NH history. I think we can only speculate at this stage whether he will stay.

Shergar, as I have already said, I was joking. I thought that would be apparent but clearly not.

Toppy makes a very valid point about his jumping style. He is very quick and attacks his fences and that will not be such an advantage up in trip. In fact it could go the other way and lead to him doing too much. Champion Chase next season and then see where he stands. Plenty of time and plenty to look forward to.
