No, they weren’t, so I don’t know why you keep bringing it up.

The issue isn’t with his ability as a DJ, it’s with suggesting he’s only in that job because he’s filling a quota. And to suggest that he’s in the job simply because he’s there to tick a box isn’t on.

Question Fozzie. Just want to get your stance.

Do you think he is there to fill a quota?

What? I’ll forward track for you pal.

Calling him a “quota filler” suggests he brings nothing to his job except his skin colour or disability or whatever diversity he happens to have. To claim that he was hired on those grounds and not his ability is ****ty.

The whole CoC schtick was inclusivity, less 'local' and I believe KS was hired (or recruited as we say in England) as part of this bigger picture to seem more like everywhere else..

Does a quota or system of positive discrimination exist at the BBC? It seems unlikely that successful candidates will be told 'Actually, you only got the job because of your ethnicity rather then intrinsic talent'

Did KS benefit from this current BBC policy?

We;ll never know. and neither will he,

I haven't mentioned quotas so why are you asking?

I know you haven't, I never suggested as such. I was just asking a question.

It's a simple question, just wanted to know your stance. Unless you're trying to avoid answering for some reason?

As the BBC have a very clear policy of quotas based on various criteria, and they have placed people of colour in historically inappropriate roles in dramas in a way that they wouldn't do they other way around, it's arguable that they themselves have created this grey area, which leaves capable employees at risk of being pigeon holed in that way. It's a very clear downside of what is a policy of positive discrimination, albeit worded subtlety differently.

It's a clumsy way of ticking a box, which can be disrespectful to people who find themselves in one of the quota categories, and the anger should be targeted at the BBC.

I’d hope not, I think positive discrimination is just as bad and it undermines the natural process of inclusion that should exist. It shouldn’t be forced, but encouraged.

Just wondering whether you think he is a quota filler. Obviously, his ability is not why you think he was hired, clearly...

It's a very simple question, you seem to be scared to answer it...

Ah I get it, I said Kofi is rubbish, Kofi is black, so you think I've got an angle on that right? Pathetic

No. That’s not what he asked you. Do you think he was hired because of the colour of his skin? Or do you think he was hired because he was the best person for the job?

Not at all, as I said at the start, just wanted to know your stance on that particular argument.

You'd make a good politician avoiding the question like you have. Obviously, like most politicians, you aren't going to answer, but in doing so I have a good idea of your thoughts. I'll leave it at that. <ok>

I agree. It's not a discussion, it's just people pushing polarised personal opinions.
