Sometimes football saddens me - cheating by players, money driven dog-eat-dog clubs, greedy players/agents etc, etc
However 2 sporting gestures at the weekend caught my eye:
Cycling has had it's problems in the past (doping etc), but yesterday saw a great sporting gesture in the Tour de France. Some idiot threw tacks on the road causing multiple punctures. The main person affected was Cadel Evans who is Bradley Wiggins main threat to winning it. However, rather than capitalise on Evans' mis-fortune, Wiggins slowed the race down to let the Australian catch up with the pelaton. I know GJ once let the opposition score at Yeovil, but could not see that happen too many times at football.
In Rugy League, the Bradford Bulls are nearly in liquidation. However, a brilliant gesture by Leeds has come to light. They are letting Bradford keep the proceed of the away tickets that they sell for the Leeds v Bradford game - this could make Bradford £50 in their fight to survive.
I'm reading that Bristol Rovers have been very good rergarding Louis Carey's testimonial in waving fees etc - mayber football's not all bad??
