Just catching up as I didn't watch it. That sounds really promising. Looking forwards to Hearts now. I'll be back home and I'm going to that one.
The team are a joy to watch at the moment. I think it has as much to do with the coaching, fitness and standards as it does with the new personnel.
Can tell how much work the coaches are spending on it We have some very special coaches at the club now, the new assistant is class - was chatting to a guy at Twente who was on a course with him once and said he is very impressive and will likely go on to be a vert good manager in his own right in yrs to come
Totally, not downplaying them at all - can just tell how good coaches are by what the team does on the pitch
I appreciate players in Scotland might learn about attitude, I just don’t think they can learn enough about football … … the Premier League is miles away from Hibernian sadly. I’d just rather our top young players were looked after by our coaches whose methods and mentality are worlds away. Contracts slip away quickly as we've seen with the likes of Dan Neil, Watson, etc … … I think our philosophy will keep evolving and loans to various clubs will decrease. If a player isn’t perceived to be right he’ll be sold, not shunted off to Doncaster.
If he was tempted then surely he would have gone to Reading when they were looking for a manager, he's still a legend around here. He says that he prefers working with young players and developing them.
If that's the case I think we won't be doing right by our young players. Some will 100% be best to develop in our academy and U21s but you also need to give youngsters exposure to senior football at some point and not just keep a hold of them to see if they'll be ready or not It's about getting the right club that'll look after a player on and off the pitch If we don't use the loan market much this summer we are either going to have to sell a lot of players or we are going to have a lot of players trying to get minutes at U21 level when they've already played their for a few years Players need to go away in and learn different styles of football unless they are going to actually feature in the 1st team (once they get to 20-21) We will just have to agree to disagree here but getting players good loan moves massively helps players development, we've experienced that by us signing boys like Evans, Amad, Welbeck etc that got the minutes and experience wiyh us then massively kicked on
Just in the Uber on the way home and I thought overall we have a great account of ourselves, particularly first half. that midfield 3 of le fee Diarra and saidiki have so much potential and ability, exciting stuff. spoke to some sporting fans and they were impressed with the first 45 from us…they don’t rate harder the lad up front or their captain hjalmund…I’d have both in a flash. lots of positives but still more work to do, would love to see us strengthen the spine, GK,CH,CM,STRIKER ….get them and we’ll surprise a few people
Seriously mate, Mayenda had to spend an entire season doing nothing but either sitting on the bench or not even sitting on the bench. During that time Hibs had two or three managers, I can't remember tbh, and weren't very good. I seriously doubt that what he learned there made any difference to what he became once he had decent coaches around him. People, on here, were saying he was a donkey who needed shooting ... ... to be fair that doesn't narrow things down too much.
Which one, Harrison or Jenson? I think both but particularly Jenson considering his "even more" lack of experience but the fact he played right back Saturday and left back tonight - very impressive.
did not see game tonight but by all accounts we played well just didn't score roll on Saturday and Hearts game can't wait
No Reinildo against Hearts or even Hull on the Tuesday after. Disappointing that but I trust the club!
