He was England U-19 captain and always earmarked for international cricket. Playing at Headingley meant that he got a number of low scores and his stats weren’t great up to two years ago when he just took off and went stratospheric in all forms of the game. He plays shots against every possible delivery all round the ground. He’s still at the crease, has a telepathic ability to know where the ball is going to be pitched, strikes the ball cleanly and plays very orthodox whilst having all the tricks modern players have. He’s going to be the next great England player. I don’t think we’ve ever had one so adept at playing all formats except Saffer Pietersen - but even his game wasn’t as developed as Brook’s because he played a number of years ago
Joyce v Parker. Utterly one-sided domination. One man ended the fight looking like he'd been in a car accident. The other looked like he'd had a brisk walk in a park.
The end to the women's cricket yesterday, yes do it after a warning but to win the game like that was poor, the player who was run out shook hands with the Indian team where I would have broke my bat over the bowlers head , suppose I didn't go to the right school old bean
Exciting final day in the cricket CC. Last season’s champions Warwickshire had to win to stay up. Tried to score quickly to set Hampshire a target but bowled out cheaply. Then bowled Hampshire out to win by 5 runs with Norwell taking 9-62. They relegated Yorkshire- or their second XI to be more precise as they have played a big chunk of the season with a middle order of Malan, Root, Brook & Bairstow, as well as other international players, missing
Salt going very well for England - 50 off 19 So many good batsmen- so why can’t they chase down totals?
It needs players to sometimes realise the the pitch is playing up or accept that a bowler is very good, see them off then go for it
T20 Cricket on S£y I'm all for the comfort and casual look but Ian Ward has taken the just got out of bed look way too far
Cricket just keeps on giving. Football isn't a match despite it's popularity. 93,000 at MCG to watch an absolute thriller.
Not a fan of True Geordie, but he takes this one to Fury, who clearly doesn't like it. Starts out negative and gets progressively worse. His jaw's doing a lot of work, too.
From 52-1 off 5 to 141-8 off 20 Great fightback by the England bowlers, especially Rashid with 1-16 off his 4.
Well that was thrashing Hales and Buttler quite outstanding but Rashid fantastic too. Pakistan in the final should be a great game that could go either way, but we definitely have a better chance of winning this world cup than the one that starts in 10 days
