One of the all time greats. I hated him when he was racing James Hunt but he rose above his injuries and got on with life. Not a good year for motor racing, losing Charlie Whiting now Lauda. Two of the gentlemen of sport.
David Willey was a bit unlucky to be left out. The only left armer and he can biff the ball a long way too. But England have an embarrassment of riches and if bowlers are going to have any say in the outcome, then the extra pace of Wood and Archer is probably more valuable.
Wood is probably the weak link in the batting, but he's no rabbit. The likes of Plunkett or Rashid batting at no.11 could yet prove to be a decisive factor. Many other countries have genuine tailenders at 9,10 & 11.
Not the biggest fan of Stokes, but he was the difference today and that catch was just incredible. The standard of fielding is just on another level. Roy has taken some amazing ones too. In fact, there were 3 or 4 top catches today alone.
Anthony Joshua just got found out big time. He was toast after the 3rd round... naively left himself wide open going after the knockout and got caught. Fought a dumb fight. Didn't use his reach or speed advantage. Tried to go for the Hollywood ending boxing toe-to-toe and threw it away.
He looked ****ed before the fight. Definitely something up there, though Ruiz was being treated as a worse fighter than he is in the build-up. Katie Taylor massively underperformed, too. Josh Kelly showboated himself to an embarrassing draw. Simple wins for Smith and Buatsi, who are both looking very impressive.
Joshua thought he'd just (sausage) roll over, but ended up being the pasty. Ruiz was a surprisingly quick counter puncher; don't think Joshua was prepared for that.
If you can stomach the guy screaming in the background constantly, this video shows just how stupid Joshua was during the 3rd round. He never kept his hands up. Left himself wide open and got tagged constantly. Dumbest round of boxing in his career.
