Now tell me where I said that?? We have too many quality Wingers/Wing Backs to even consider buying another one.
So Fraizer Campbell is apparently on his way to Cardiff for £2million - Source; A Tweet from Matt Killgallon Before that Wet Ham were after him - Source, Football Rumours Now apparently Cardiff have offered £1.75million for Elmo - Source, Daily Mirror Is it just me or are there signs that MON prefers to do his business via the rumour chain like a certain Mr Pearson.
A number of players in one position doesn't seem to bother Mackay though does it? How many strikers do you have at the Club at the moment, yet you still fork out £30k a week on Fraizer Campbell? I thought you'd have too many quality Strikers to even consider buying another one.
Wise up guys, what you read is mostly some 2nd rate reporters fantasy. We give these rumours credibility by repeating and discussing them. Cardiff are just as much victims of this as we are. If (and I've seen no official (or even believable) confirmation) FC has gone to Cardiff, they will have been as irritated by his fathers atempts to create an auction as we were.
http://www1.skysports.com/football/...f-bid-for-Sunderland-striker-Fraizer-Campbell There's only conformation of the bid, not that he's made an official transfer. £30k is quite hard to believe, it could all be paper talk.
Nigel Pearson loves to fill the Press (particularly local) with misinformation to influence possible signings. Look at all the crap that came out when he was chasing Chester, Koren and Stewart.
No. We lack a prolific goalscorer. Campbell could well be that man. As for those of you asking about the fee, it is said to be around £680k.
Where did you get the figure of £2 million from? The reported amount is £560,000.? Wages of £30K a week for 14 weeks isn't too excessive if you put that against the money from promotion to the promised land. As for having more than enough strikers, not true. Maynard was bought to do a particular job and never did it because of an early long term injury. Gestedte is a good impact choice for the last 25 minutes but not for a complete game. Helgusson is a hard worker but old and slow, and more a target man than an out and out striker. Veronica is too lightweight and can't even make the bench. Mason is good but lacks experience against good central defenders. And that's it. Which is why we've been winning games 1 - 0 when you'd have expected a team on top of the league to be putting some of them to bed before half time. We really do need a striker. Malky doesn't buy any player without a purpose and a reason. He is buying youngsters now for 2 and 3 years down the line. He knows what he wants and keeps at it. That said, I hope when we come to you in May it's a bouble clebration of 2 clubs already promoted. Keep the Faith!
What we really need is a good fullback that can play eatier side. We are weaker there than you realise, our good defensive record and clean sheets is largely due to the likes of Bellamy and Whittingham doing overtime and tracking back time after time to cover fullbacks. but that means we tend to be slow on the break into fast attacks.
The transfer fee is almost certainly around £600k, as that's what's been quoted by all clubs involved, but I'm not sure where you're getting the 14 weeks from, he's signing on a long term deal apparently and that's one hell of a wage.
I think what he means is 14 weeks until end of the season, then once they are in the premier league the 30k won't be a problem.
Amber force, you got it. That's exactly what I meant. And if he can't cut it in the Premier (Should we get there) he can always be sold on to help fund a better striker. But after his injuries only time will tell what he will be like in the future. I hope for his own sake that his injuries are behind him and he is good for another couple of years. (And for ours of course)
Got ya, though if he doesn't cut it in the Premier League(and his current Premier League record is 7 goals in 70 appearances), then you haven't a prayer of shifting him if he's on £30k a week, as we know only to painfully.
