Where do I start ? First I'm really gutted that I could not get to Wembley, the Mrs. thinks I'll get a heart attack shouting at the TV. It’s been a great week with the banter with the Scousers, I've had quite a few chuckles some top notch banter, and cheers lads don't keep away your always welcome. Thanks to the fans from other teams particularly the Swans for the well done and good wishes, it's appreciated. Now it’s onwards and upwards West Ham on Sunday, after yesterday’s performance against one of the big boys I don't think we need fear anyone. So Cheers Liverpool for a great game and great banter and can we have Bellers back please.
Really good post, thanks OP. It's great that two sets of fans can put differences aside and appreciate the finer points of the game and 'fandom'. Good Luck to Cardiff for the rest of the season. If you make it into the PL you'll do great I'm sure. Please don't boo Suarez (unless he dives ) Rhondda54_DJ - thanks for the solidarity with the signature
Loved the warm up banter all last week on here, great weekend, great game, great result I think the respect between both sets of fans helped me personally enjoy the day as much as any final I've ever been to and even though the football wasn't spectacular in quality it was fast, end to end, massively tense and not good for anybodys heart rate. I'm glad so many Cardiff fans have come on here to say how proud they are to be a Bluebird today because you lot have class support, a manager who kicked every single ball and was a gentleman throughout and a set of players who couldn't possibly have given it anymore I think I speak for a lot of Reds when I say that I wish you all the best for the future and will be more than happy to see you in The Prem.
That was yet again a massively painfull experience - as it always is as a Liverpool fan!! Fair play to Cardiff though. They gave everything and despite not having as much possesion/territory i'd say they looked more dangerous in front of goal. Actually thought we'd lost when the first pennos didn't go in. Reina is just the man at pennos.
cheers lads its been great and like you say above twas an honest good old fashion football game.....loved the fact you reds didnt make a meal out of our hard but fair tackles,im not sure many other prem teams would have done the same thing tbh(mention no names). twas great 2play liverpool in the final, many of my mates grew up being liverpool fans but became cardiff fans as they had fcuk all else 2do on a saturday.but liverpool doesnt only have fans from around the country the whole city is football mad and i love the passion they show for theyre teams wether they b red or blue or young or old......i take my hat off tiz a pity we didn lift the cup init, but one things for sure we made liverpool earn it which made for a good time
Did you see Newsnight last night? the scum is in deep, deep sh.t over bribery and corruption investigations as part of the Leveson Enquiry. It's that serious, it could mean the end for the filthy thing. We live in hope.
I do think he had an effect. The knowledge he's such a good penalty stopper could be why Kenny and Rudy hit the post. Both trying to put it right in the corner because if they didn't he's as likely as any keeper to save it. Both of them 3 inches away from perfect penalties (I'm well aware 3 extra inches is massive...........)
Reina went the wrong way for Miller's penalty!! So nothing to do with him just couldn't hit the target.
First rule of penalty taking: Hit the target. If the keeper saves it then well done him. I do think he'd have saved A. Gerrards anyway even if it was tucked right in the corner.
Obviously Miller could have side footed the ball anywhere to Reina's left, but if we all knew where the Keeper was going no one would ever miss a pen. What I was getting at was that imo Miller thought he had to aim for the corner/very edge of the goal as Reina is a world class pen stopper. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, IF Miller and Rudy had smashed the ball straight down the middle Gez wouldn't have had to bother. I agree with Dead Passive that you should always hit the target, I think it's fair to say that was all 3's intention. Just think it's rare to see 3 players from the same side in one shootout all taking the risk of aiming so near to the post/corner.
