I used to hate Sparky when he played for SAF. Tough, niggly, skillful, bully boy CF, the bastard would never give up. Just like Bobby yesterday - can't help thinking that he is going to get better and better with the boss passing on all his nasty little tricks - excellent.
Agreed, and hopefully pass it on to Bothroyd as well. Would be nice to have some back-up. In fact, I would of thought he would of brought on Bothroyd instead of SWP for Zamora yesterday seeing that they're of a similar ilk. Like for like and all that.
Frank did you ever make it to Leamington Spa? Was having a wander today, and it was at its best in the sunshine, also found an excellent new restaurant. Let me know if you come and I'll buy you a pint of brimstone or whatever it is you drink.
Guys, was thinking that tonights game might be of triple importance if Utd win: 1. 3Pts for Utd would put them 5 clear of City. If this continues then our final game against City would be meaningless for them. They would have nothing to celebrate on the final day. Players might already have their minds on summer hols. Who wants to get injured on the final day and face the summer in rehab!!!!! 2. 3 Pts for Utd will put Blackburn in the bottom three. 3. GD between us and Blackburn might come down to the wire. We need Utd to thump in 3 or 4. Obviously a reverse of the above would not be so good. But, lets stay positive. I hope Rooney has his shooting boots on.
What a great thread! Full of intelligent commentary for once. There are always some donuts around but this remains the best forum for QPR fans by far. For what its worth in my crazy glass 3/4 empty world I have us ending up having beaten the scum (twice), Liverpool, Arsenal and City on the final day but still going down on goal difference. Sorry!
All very true Nuts, and for a No 4: Having scored 4 and left Blacburn with no chance of taking a point, Rooney twists his ankle and is definitely out for the QPR match Sunday. (Same applies to the rest of their starting line up for Blackburn, plus all their Keepers!) Having thumped in 3 or 4
Never thought we'd be saying this in the Premier League but you're right. A fit Helgs could prove crucial in the run in. ICE ICE BABY
You allude to a worry I have - the emphatic win we're hoping for will put Man U on great form for the game against us. I'm not expecting much from it to be fair but we do need to put in a better performance than Blackburn do. I think a Blackburn implosion, suicidal defending and a couple of penalties (one missed just for the doubts to Rooney's confidence) or such a decisive win that it details Blackburn is needed. Alternatively, United win and they'll start to relax knowing that City are gifting them the title but surely we can't be lucky enough for them to be complacent too.
In true Rangers style don't you think we're asking rather a lot from the football Gods this week... that United should kick arse big time at Blackburn AND falter miserably against us at OT a few days later? Hate to put the dampers on current high spirits, but with our luck it could more easily be the other way round. Just a (horrible) thought. Taxi!
Every game is a wild dream Brix. I'd settle for Rovers getting slaughtered and us narrowly missing out. It's more about us doing comparatively better than our rivals AND the wheels not falling off the QPR choo-choo train.
We need most of all a good performance at OT to keep the wagon rolling along, not the misfiring display at Sunderland following our previous great win over Liverpool. That way we have a chance of getting a much needed run together at this crucial time, and of course no red cards/ penalties. I have a fear that everything may not go to plan tonight in the Blackburn/ ManU game, hope it's just nerves.....
Reckon most of us'll be watching the game tonight as intensely as if we were playing... Talk about n-n-n-nerves Cur!
I think United are playing better away from home, a ruthless performance tonight, similar to their win at Wolves a couple of weeks ago would be just the job. Then they can have a nervous stuttering performance on Sunday...
Well said Brix. It does seem a tad silly to be fair! (Although if there is a Football God, I think Oddball (F Jesus) is it.)
