My understanding is that Mick’s feedback is pretty good, it’s his ability to consistently deliver his maximum that’s lacking. I’m not sure who else would be a better choice?
Well, if as suggested its primarily commercial to have the name associated again then you would be right, who better? but is there not a merc own young driver they want to push? it does seem to suggest no theres not (or that current other formulas are better for them to race in.)
I’m not sure who is in their young driver programme, but if they wanted someone to step into a race role at short notice most teams, and certainly everyone bar the backmarkers tend to go for experience, rather than someone who has never raced F1 as the start might be their first experience of the car, certainly in competition. Merc have Stoffel, but sometimes he’s at FE races, so adding Mick makes total sense. Loads of reserve drivers have Mick’s profile from a driving perspective, JEV, Givonazzi, Kubica, Stoffel…
I hear NIge being mentioned!!!! But... Here to say that F1 really does make it difficult to justify continuing to support. Comeback Seb, we need you more than ever!
Not seen it myself just spotted an advert for it. I think it's on Discovery+ so I'll have to wait for it to come on Quest or something From the advert it looks like Bernie is very involved, so not sure how biased it might be
Any thoughts on how we approach car launches and testing for 2023 folks? Want me to pop in some 2023 Team threads in early Feb like last season, or would you just want a singular thread? Defo think we should have a separate testing thread again (can’t remember who set it up last year but I enjoyed discussing pre season). Only a few weeks til some car launches! Hope to see some radical progressions from the midfield but I feel we might be a couple seasons away from breakthroughs!
Hi Top Class, I`d like to see just the same,it was perfect. Was reading that the cars are going to be much thinner this year.
So F1 hints at starting up the entry process and then Andretti reveal they've secured the backing of General Motors. Looks like it may happen after all
https://www.racefans.net/2023/01/05...-sponsor-was-told-to-pay-the-team-26-million/ Williams due a £26m settlement from former sponsor ROKIT
reading the BBC article it says any new team has to put up $200m to shared between the other teams to offset any prize money losses due to the potential competiveness of the new team. I think that’s a disgrace. If a new team turns up and starts scoring points then it doesn’t say much for the teams already in the competition if they’re not good enough to beat a newcomer.
Just reading about Max being disconnected on a virtual Le Mans competition he was about to start.Seems like Max got hacked, say he may as well uninstall it as it`s a clown show. He`s seriously spit the dummy.
New rules for Q1 this coming season is that teams can only use hard tyres.Surely this will require drivers to do lots of laps to get heat into those hards , I can see huge traffic jams around the track. Also, only mediums for Q2 & only softs for Q3.
Did I miss this or just sleep through to April 1st? What is the actual point of that, even if it's only tested at a couple of events? Going to be fun if one of those is a cold, slightly damp track. The qualifying format is something that just works? Why they want to keep tinkering with it is beyond me.
