I don’t think anybody would argue with his comments. I said at the time that I felt Lewis left because of JB and would have stayed if he’d have had a less competitive team mate - JB probably cost him a title.

On the flip side, those pictures show how young Lewis was - there was a generation of difference there.

If he left because he thought Button cost him a title then he made a big mistake thinking it was going to be easy with Rosberg <laugh>

I meant purely from having 2 race winners in one team with what appeared to be equal status. I do think the McLaren was capable of winning a championship in that period.

I think the mind-set of the media at the time (and probably Lewis who had ousted/beat Alonso) was that JB would be a push over, which obviously wasn't the case. The same logic could (and maybe was) applied to the Rosberg pairing. Obviously they were both very different situations in that the Merc pairing effectively drove in a 2 car championship, whereas the Lewis/JB paring were in competition with several other teams and drivers.

Great to see some truths coming out in JB's book, although I can see he's held back in places.
For instance, I wish he'd told a fuller truth about Briatore. His initials ought to be B.O. He stinks. –And is an altogether nasty piece of work.

But I like how he describes motor-mouth Villeneuve, who always over-rated himself and continues to do so today (not unlike prima donna Ralf, actually)…
