Vettel is basically my age, and we've more or less achieved the same things in life.....

Watching the 2004 Monaco Grand Prix right now on the livestream. Don't know if it's just the encoding or something but WOW Martin Brundle's voice sounds so much different.

EDIT: Also, confession - I miss the "single lap" system of qualifying from that season. Thought that was a really fun idea.

For a minute I was convinced that this is where Bernie has been getting his tracks from, but then I realised there was a letter missing.

Seeing as we don't have a 2017 rumours thread, apparently the aim is to get up to 1000bhp by then, ideally without a massive engine redesign, just tweaks to fuel flow, etc.

    Hey Guys

Does anyone want a dvd of the 2014 season? I've ended up with two as gifts. It'll still be in the plastic and absolutely brand new. Amazon are doing it at £12.99 so does anyone fancy it for a tenner + free postage?

saw this on the BBC sports day feed:

Robert Manzon, the last surviving driver of Formula One's inaugural season in 1950, has died. He was 97.

Manzon, a member of the 24 Hours of Le Mans hall of fame, took part in the famed endurance race six times, and drove in 28 F1 races from 1950-56.

It's not unreasonable to suggest that they weren't terribly bright.

I suppose if you have taken the time and trouble to steal a car and you are all keyed up for a bit of ramraiding you want to do it, don't you? Even if the door is actually open. They are hardly master criminals, are they? What a bunch of twats.

    • Ricciardo poised for Top Gear bid
      Formula 1

      Posted at14:57

Daniel Ricciardo is hopeful of dethroning Lewis Hamilton - as the fastest driver in Top Gear's 'Star in a Reasonably Priced Car' challenge.

Ricciardo is to finally get his chance on the popular BBC2 programme, with his attempt at the famous Dunsfold Aerodrome site in Surrey to be screened on 8 February. "I hope it's cold so the engine is crisp, but I also hope it's dry so I can actually have a good crack," he says.
