It's been a long while since I've listened and as a whole it was a pretty unfunny episode, but he didn't excel by any means. He sounded monotone, unenthusiastic and as if he was reading a script - which he probably was. Not a great listen.

Horner last week - "What F1 has done during the last couple of weeks with the public slanging matches that have gone on are not good for the sport, because the sport should be focusing on what we have seen in America: good racing, wheel to wheel racing."The politics and the fiscal issues should be dealt behind closed doors, with the commercial rights holder, and get sorted." Today - [h=1]F1 should drop V6s for old V8 engines - Red Bull's Christian Horner[/h] F1, the pinnacle of Motorsport* *9 years ago
There's a certain irony in Horner stamping his feet over leveling the playing field in the engine department, while simultaneously poo pooing any kind of financial levelling for the smaller teams. Horner, Wollf, Mattiacci (or whatever his name is) and Bernie can alll get stuffed! They're like kids that don't want to share their sweeties.
They are all out for themselves, Horner doesn't mind the financial bias towards top teams but is throwing his toys out about performance equality like you say. These guys needs straightening up, unfortunately it won't happen. I think Bernie is trying to replicate WEC, with tiers of teams. Top teams with big budgets and 3 cars in LMP1, and smaller teams with smaller budgets and slower performance in LMP2.
They really are all out for themselves, but it's about time they stopped acting like kids and took a look a the big picture. F1 is just a farce right now. It's like the inmates have taken over the asylum. .
To put it bluntly, Horner is one of the most guilty of the current system of F1, in that he fought for Red Bull to have parity with Ferrari without giving a **** about any of the other teams. Ugh why did they sign a new Concorde last year that means we've got to wait until 2020 for anything meaningful.
Maybe the sport will collapse and be reborn from the ashes before 2020. The majority of F1 fans seem annoyed at something right now, be it current regs, dull seasons, prize money distribution or even ticket prices and PPV. Makes you wonder what would happen if every fan boycott the whole next season. If only....
I'm struggling to remember when the last time was that the big stories in F1 were actually related to the on track action as opposed to controversial rules and regulations, costs for teams and fans alike etc.
It does happen, I mean we had Hamilton and Rosberg at Belgium, but that was kinda a regulation issue as well...
+ Rosberg's 'mistake' at Monaco + Hamilton/Rosberg tussle at Bahrain It's a shame the on track action, which mainly outside the 1st & 2nd places, has been pretty good is all overshadowed by the crap that's going on financially and the politics/corruption of the larger teams and Bernie who seem intent on destroying the sport for their own gain (which will ultimately end in failure if the fans turn their backs on F1)
I'm just hoping we have a breakaway series sooner rather than later. Watching Bernie, Ferrari and Red Bull trying to keep F1 going by running 10 car teams would be hilarious.
I reckon F1 would lose around a 1/5 of viewers if they switch to 3 car teams, seems about right. And these viewers will be from a specific demographic - long standing veterans that have been watching for decades.
I think it may be more than that Manny. Most die-hard fans love an underdog story, if there are no underdogs left then part of the mystique of F1 disappears. Hopefully pressure from the manufacturers (not the constructors) and sponsors will put an end to all this mess. If the sponsors leave F1 because the viewing figures go down, circuits won't then pay the fees to host a race and we'll effectively end up with F1 Asia series as that is the only part of the world that seems prepared to build new tracks and host races.
