I don't get Ferraris wing mirrors. They're banned for Monaco so they're surely illegal. But yet they're allowed them for this weekend. So... legal?
I have read / heard it’s because they have pushed the boundaries of what the FIA intended . I am no fan of Ferrari , but the FIA should have been clearer on what is / is not permissible .
It was clear, the mirrors are supposed to be safety devices first, not aero aids, but Ferrari tried a stroke and left it to the officials to be interpreted...can't blame them. You push the boundaries and hope it passes.
Is it not the winglet above the mirror that's actually been banned, not the mirror placement? I think the rules allow a small aero device on the mirror, which is what Ferrari are arguing their winglet is. But it's also attached to the Halo, which I don't think is meant to be used in such a way. It's legal because Ferrari have found a way to make the rules conflict, but not in the spirit of the regulations so will be made illegal by Monaco.
What a farce of a weekend, empty grandstands etc. Turned it off. Never had to do this during the Redbull domination.
