Sunderland to rival Arsenal for Lille strikerThe Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is reported to be set to step up his pursuit for the Lille striker Moussa Sow, who is also attracting a host of other clubs from the Premier League including Arsenal, as he tries to strengthen the Black Cats attacking line before the start of the coming season.

The Senegalese-born former French under 21 international was top scorer in France’s Ligue 1 last season with 25 league goals for Lille as they clinched the Ligue 1 title.

Sow has only been at Lille since last summer, but has instantly become a much sought-after striker after his scintillating performances this season.


No fee has been made public yet, but it is clear that he’s certainly not going to come cheap to whatever club gets his signature, but quality will come with whatever price is mentioned, but he will almost certainly be a player of whom to watch.

But can Sunderland really hope to land this player, given that his current club Lille, Manchester City or Arsenal can give him Champions League football next season?

The Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, who is known to be a big admirer of the striker, is certainly watching developments as well in case Nicklas Bendtner leaves the Emirates, so if Sunderland really want to get their man they had better move sooner rather than later to get a jump ahead of Sow’s other suitors.

We probably couldn't match the wages most other clubs will offer.

This is our main problem we pay peanuts we get monkeys as they say.

All this bull**** about shopping a Horrids by Bruce and ambition from Quinn is starting to wear a bit thin now.

If Quinn was really as ambitious as he claims we would have Houlier, Hiddink or similar as our manager now not Steve Bruce.

Anyone can shop at Harrods but can they really afford it.

The bottom line is - if we are to be a force to be reckoned with we need to pay players the same sort of wages as United, City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs. Surely Quinn realises that.

The fact is we can't afford to pay the wages of the kind of player that can get us there and we as supporters have to come to terms with this. We will continue to lose out on players because of it with our restrictive wage structure.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not advocating breaking the current wage system I'm just saying we have to come to terms with the fact we are just the same old Sunerland simply doing a bit better than we have in the past and that's all.

The sad thing is mate, appart from houl, you are right.
 
could be legs in this one. sow was at rennes with gyan if i'm correct and his record prior to last season wasn't great so i can't see at top 4 club going for him
