Yep..it's a sign of the times these day, regrettably. I don't see this ever changing either whilst the TV/Sponsorship deals are now climbing over 100m per club, per season. Not including the top few massive Clubs throughout the world, not many of the rest are viable businesses, despite attempts to govern restrictions now in place to prevent teams spending beyond their allowed budgets. Greedy players have the upper hand when they sense a club appearing desperate or vulnerable. I suppose it's simply a leap of faith for Clubs taking a chance on an expensive player.
