I actually tweeted to Burnsie yesterday that this would happen. Phil and Horton should get a really good reception. Obviously I want City to win but I hope its a good game with Southend putting in a good performance. Its a bit tricky though cos those type of games we should win we all know what can happen.
Great draw and a good chance of progressing through to the next round. I hope Phil Brown gets a great reception; given the end of his tenure, it's all too easy to forget what he achieved at the club.
I agree it could be a tricky tie, when you think about the possible outgoings from the squad this month, our 'second team' so to speak will be a different one to yesterday. Let's hope it's a chance for the likes of Henderson, Fletcher and CJM to show what they can do. It's games like this that make working away for the winter difficult, I left the day we beat Liverpool, missed Man U and Fulham, and this would be a cracking atmosphere for us with browny in the other dugout. 'Browny, give us a song, Browny Browny give us a song.'
You can stand but will have to put up with someone moaning at you to sit down as their grandma, disabled relative or young kid can't see properly. Looking at the games today West Ham and Chelsea fans are in better health than ours as everyone is stood up. Or maybe they don't have fans there to spectate like at a theatre or who let stewards push them about? Mind you, not as many of the half and half scarf types who spend more time gawping at the other teams' players and taking their photos will be going to Southend.
"My first City game was as a 4 year old watching the Tigers beat Chester 2-0 at Boothferry in '94. I don't remember much of the game - but neither does my Grandad who missed both goals while he took his Grandson to the toilet. I'll repay him one day" Not trying to be an end of bell, but we never played or beat Chester 2-0 at home in 1994, in fact, I don't recall us beating them 2-0 at BP at anytime in the 90s. There's always someone, somewhere, with a big nose who knows; and I'd hate you to be tripped up by them in the future.
Great draw this. Is Horton down there as well? Hope all those with a City connection get a good reception from our fans. If you boo them you're a dickhead. Looks like the 2000 tickets will be snapped up easily. I hope it's not on the telly.
Hope Brownie gets a good reception from the fans. There had to be a reunion at some point! Hopefully we won't take them lightly and make the most of a decent chance to get through to the 5th round. Should be a decent shout to be on TV.
You've got the laugh....Just been looking at one of their message boards....And they pissed off they never got a 'big club' FFS this is Southend United we're talking about!!!!! Half the twats don't seem to know we're 10th in the premier league...Take the first XI down there Steve and tear them a new arsehole.
Most of them probably remember playing us in the bottom division, so you can see why they're not too happy. We're hardly a massive club, just because we've had 5 decent months.
To be brutally honest, a home tie against Hull is nowhere near as attractive as a tie against Arsenal or Chelsea.
I'll be going and I'll be applauding Browny. Great chance to progress even further this time. I'd like to see us reach at least the quarter or semi finals. We never have Cup runs!
Well not since Brownie left. I'm looking forward to this, no doubt we'll have to put with the usual boneheaded comments about Brown from the usual boneheaded ****s, but still, it should be a good game.
We were playing them in the league a few years ago. If it wasn't for the Phil Brown connection it wouldn't be interesting at all. Let's be honest.
