Perfect shout. Gonna get there early for some Boxing Day drinks & as you say hoping for a great atmosphere & hopefully a good performance.
Imagine having a day off before a game when bottom of the table on 5 points. Appreciate its Christmas but that's the sacrifices you make when playing at that level
yeah, it is no different than being a shift worker or a hospital worker....except you are doing something that most people can only dream of and getting paid a silly amount of money for it.... Easily said, but if I was a professional footballer (at any level), I would just accept that it is my job and Christmas isn't the same as for the masses. EDIT: I wonder if Ronaldo or Messi took/take xmas day off....
Drs at the highest level are expected to work Christmas Day. If I **** up a surgery or there are complications I go in on my own time and sort it out. A shift worker usually has other people on their team who can do the same job. These are athletes playing at the highest level in the best league in the world. The stakes are high.
Ramsdale Sugawara Wood Bednarek THB KWP Aribo Downes Dibling Fernandes Armstrong edit : I’m stupid and can’t read properly and this was the Fulham team. Oops
Sorry I’m an idiot. I was just browsing Instagram and not paying attention. I think I thought I might have got the game time wrong and didn’t even look at the opponent! Weird it was so high on my feed. Another algorithm that seems to have broken
Thought it was normal to train on Christmas day. But tbf to the players, if they are told they can have Christmas Day off I don’t really blame them for not saying no, we want to train. Obviously as a fan we want them to want to do everything in their power to improve as a team. But if they are offered it off, then fair enough if they take it, there are very few who wouldn’t, and tbf no noises of complaints have come out about now having to train. And it would be more annoying to work it when you thought you were going to get to spend the whole day with your family then if you had planned the day and your family time around training in the first place.
Premier league football players can live in a state of eternal Christmas on the money they get paid. They can probably cope with a bit of training on the 25th
They’re all soft jessies nowadays. I remember when they used to play on Christmas Day AND Boxing Day.
