Mmm, I'm not so sure. Manning was their player of the season last year. Even in the summer some of their fans were laughing that we'd (allegedly) offer £10m for Wood.
I think I said at the time that it wasn’t very encouraging that we appeared to be trying to buy half the side that finished mid table in the Championship. I’m glad we didn’t get anyone else from Swansea (that includes Piroe) We have put together a strong squad for this level by retaining players and with some useful loans. So credit to the club for that
I'll disagree there. With a good manager, we'd have gone down with a fight rather than the sheer capitulation we witnessed. We were a bad team by any measure, just perhaps not that bad.
Actually I was going to write “well not until the last day anyway” but still think we definitely could have stayed up with a capable leader. Still, all water now.
