I just wonder what the new owners are making of this, because they haven't bought the club to lose money, which they will if this decline continues. They have kept a very low profile so far.
What a fekin shambles seems our glory days are getting further behind us each week at the moment ! A generous 30% !
I've tried so hard to be positive but Guidolin is turning nightmares into reality. Today we looked like we set up to play a game in the park. I couldn't for the life of me work out what formation we were supposed to be playing or what our tactics were supposed to be. The players seemed to play random football with no guile, edge or tenacity at all. They just played on auto pilot going through the motions. The midfield in particular was shambolic letting every second ball land at the oppositions feet. Even with the ball we just passed it right back to them. Yet again, Loriente was isolated as our midfield made no attempt, or effort, to support him. Its as though he's the kid in the school yard nobody likes, so no one will play with him. the poor fekker must be absolutely gutted he's placed his illustrious career in the hands of someone so inept. About the inept ones substitutions. Why take Kingsley off for Rangel when Kingsley is the best fullback we've got? Why not take Naughton off? Why put Monterro on with 20 minutes left and only give Borjas 8 minutes?? we were only 1-0 down. Why Borjas on at all if he's not going to have enough time to even break a sweat? Why did Britton remain on the bench when the midfield was screaming out for him? Why is Guidolin our manager? I'm used to working with groups of people, predominantly overpaid, know it all, rough diamond, men, both on the inside as part of the team and the outside as a subordinate authority. I have done so for over 35 years so I've got to know the 'tells' that groups give off which sum up their attitudes. The 'tells' steaming off our group of players right now show me that they have little or no confidence in the authority figure controlling their environment and ultimately their success. The tells coming from Taylor last week, the general lost look around the field of play, the lack of concentration when giving the ball away, Siggys indifference, Lorientes ire, and he is very irritated right now, Ki going against his nature and venting his frustration as he comes off the pitch, Corks double take to shake Guidolins hand when he came off tell everyone that, already, Guidolin and his staff have lost the changing room. The biggest tell of all is the lack of argument on the pitch as a response to the lack lustre way we've played as a team. No one has been seen shouting on the pitch or riling up the team, no seems to actually care about the malaise they're in. With this in mind if our new owners don't want their team to continue losing games they shouldn't be losing; subconsciously no one gives 100% for someone they don't have faith in, and they don't want to start losing players they wont want to replace; they wont want to spend the cash, then they have to tell Guidolin to go and go sooner rather than later. Maybe that arrogant prick Landon Donovan can have a word, after all the championship level, at best, ex footballer has been hired as their eyes and ears in the 'locker room'.
Missed the 2nd half unfortunately/fortunately... But saw enough last week in the 1st & again today, that this guy is taking us backwards at an absolutely alarming rate!!!! Same old predictable negativity in his approach to every game. I'm reluctant to start on the players, as they probably don't know what their game plan is, so how can we really blame them yet. If his formation & the personnel selected were our best players available, the approach was positive & it was the case they didn't perform professionally, fair enough!! But when we set-up just to survive, with no intent, drive, focus, purpose or any other kind of nous to win a match, the blame lies entirely at the feet of this uninspiring directionless excuse of our manager...
Even if I disagree with a managers choices, I usually end up thinking that he is with the players day in day out and must, absolutely must know more about our players than me. However, the opening 5 games of this season, and particularly today make me believe he just hasn't got a clue. Either he's not communicating to the players what he wants from them, they don't understand or they have no faith in what he's telling them. Everyone and their set of Hungarian Nose Bagpipes can see it's all wrong. Everyone can see we need to have a go with Monty and Barrow on from the start. Everyone can see when the game is getting away from us and needs a change. I swear I could do a better job than Guidolin right now.
The team today reminded me of Villa last season. Just strugglers going through the motions. There's no identity to the team, no passion or character. I tend to agree that it might be worth getting shot of Guido now as we've been here before, last season when the slump continues. Players are known to play FOR their manager. I can't see the players doing that for Guido. May be his approach or his struggle with the language, even his personality. He just doesn't look like he has any confidence (never has) and that filters in to the team. They played for Curtis last season and very nearly got a result against City away. I'd cut and run with him now. He at least will give them some passion and encourage them to string a few passes together. Fernández time to be dropped has come too. That pass straight to a Southampton player was the last straw. Get Mawson in, see what he can do. Can't surely be as bad.
None of us know what's going on behind closed doors but if we are going to change the manager it should be sooner rather than later as later might be too late.. I would hope lessons have been learnt from last season..
Just got back in from the game, God that was awful. Piss poor all over the pitch, how we got away with a 1-0 loss is beyond me. It could have easily been 4/5 nil. The game was crying out for Leon at half time, we needed someone to take, grip of our midfield. We lacked width, nothing up top, God it was depressing!! VERY long season ahead got us, my boy who's always optimistic even said we will be going down this season and I can't disagree with him.
I've a feeling he will be correct as well. I wasn't confident before the game, now totally despondent with the players, manager and especially the board. I think we're ****ed this season.
I disagree. I'm beginning to think that the players are as hacked off with the ineptitude of the Manager as we are.
I hope we never see Ki on the pitch in a Swans shirt again. Turned down £7m for the useless muppet. Leon in a wheelchair at 70 would put in more effort
Man City x 2 and Liverpool in next 3 games. At this rate we'll be lucky to keep the combined scoreline under 20 goals Saying that, 20 goals might get rid of this clueless git.
