I didn't say I believed or shared opinion in what he said, it's a view from MC which I happen to totally disagree with. The fact is neither incidents were penalties or both were. If these guys are getting paid £000's to referee matches no one is getting value or justice for the money.
Think what annoys me most about the handball decisions is the ref could not see the ball striking Bertrand's arm and he gave a penalty. VAR didn't have the balls to overturn it. With the Wolves ball-to-arm, the Ref could see the ball clearly and decided, correctly, not to give a penalty. So in this instance VAR has done exactly the opposite of what it was brought in for.
Blimey, even the perpetually myopic Garth Crooks thinks it was ridiculous. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56074334
I have never seriously believed that a referee deliberately tried to influence a result before, but I can’t shake the conviction that Graham Scott actually had it in for us on Sunday. Maybe it’s the effects of lockdown playing with my head. The whole penalty thing stinks though, the one given and the one not given. Something really doesn’t feel right.
If you watch the TV footage of the match, you can just make out a Wolves tattoo on Graham Scott's arm (when it is in an unnatural position)
Ah, is that what it is? Fair enough then. I was beginning to wonder whether he thought he was striking a blow for Mike Dean
I've thought along those lines for the last few matches to be fair. It seems like we're on the referees naughty step ever since we had the temerity to beat Liverpool. We ought to recognise our place, ie we're not in the Elite league of the PL, just cannon fodder for those that are.
I think I've worked out Graham Scott's rationale for his decision-making: He realised that giving a penalty against Ryan Bertrand was a clear error, so he tried to make up for it by not giving a penalty for the next infringement in any penalty area, on the basis that two wrongs make a right.
I was about to give you a massive geeky line about positives and negatives, but is so over it all now that I think that a negative and a negative make a negative.
