Either we are falling over a lot or southhampton are being a little rough. If they had a mean tactical mind to them it would do no harm to their survival hopes to try and instigate another injury crisis for us too.

Total **** again tonight. Spineless, clueless, second best in every phase. Farke has many qualities as a coach but his retarded insistence in zonal marking is going to continue to **** us over till the penny drops.

    Bah!

We seem to be in slow motion as they run circles around us. Brilliant save by Krul to avoid a third goal was the only bright moment. Please sort it out DF!

They look as if they've just got off the bus. Giving the ball away, trying low percentage passes. Totally unnecessary foul by Cantwell for the first goal. Maybe a cunning Farke plan to lull Saints into thinking they have the game won ........ Let's see if we can score the next goal.

It reminds me of the Burnley game. Saints have a physicality and experience we manifestly lack.

Stieps and Tettey coming on for Trybull and Amadou? I don't get it.

Well, Amadou has been the chief offender when it comes to giving the ball away; seems nervous, so Tettey will steady the ship. And given the notable lack of our usual, crisp, short passing game, bringing on Marco also makes sense as a way of linking attack and defence. In theory anyway!

I really cant see us staying up to be honest. As someone said last weekend, we need to get results against mid to bottom teams if we are going to do it. A heroic draw again a top side isnt going to get us there.
And we looked like too many of our players arent savy to the ways of the prem, making rash challenges in some areas and getting pushed of the ball without putting up a fight in others.

And we looked so slow going forward tonight. We seem to never want beat a man on the wing and get a decent cross in. I like hernandez, but how often did he try to cut back inside and play a short pass backwards? Its predictable and teams arent troubled by it.

DF said that he didn't see any need to rotate players for this game despite the short recovery period from Sunday; well, the performance proved him wrong. Energy-less and too many at half-speed. Godfrey seemed to be wearing lead boots.

To be fair to Hernandez, they had done their homework and he had three defenders round him whenever he got the ball. Saints pressed the ball in numbers and we just couldn't play through the screen they set up, especially since so much of our play was half-paced.

It doesn't matter if you are man- or zonal marking if you don't have the physicality to match your opponent.

And Hernandez's cutting back to Byram gave Byram an excellent chance (or two) to pinch a draw at the death.
I still think we can stay up. We looked tired as RBB says, but came back and nearly pinched a point in a better second half. Its gonna be tough but this team can get better with more games together. Can't believe I'm saying it again this season but Tettey looks crucial. So much better when he came on. He brings that physicality that we are missing with most of our squad. But not just that, under Farke he can play a bit!

    Bah!
