thing is united can play players like RVP and rooney when they aren't having a stormer. could we afford to play rvp and pelle?

jay rod was profligate as well.

I wasn't engaging United on this, just trying to put some realism into Saints fans.

Ps. You must be in dream land today; that was a poor United team and we let you off the hook.

No we don't. We will, but we don't. In case you didn't notice, we are 5th on 26 points.

Now, the Sheffield United game, that's huge. Lose and we're out. Lose to Burnley and we dust down and start again.

We have to beat Burnley IMO. We certainly can't lose to the worst team in the league.

It wasn't about the injuries, as has been said, we did more than enough to win. You can't gift two chances to RVP and expect anything other than what we got.

The first goal, well, s**t happens. From where I was sitting I knew what was going to unfold even before Fonte passed the ball. What was more worrying was Forster's underwhelming attempt to get to the ball. Since his mistake at Villa he seems to have lost confidence coming off the line. My first thought was that if he had committed to it from the start, he could have got there before RVP, or at about the same time. I haven't seen it on TV so I could be wrong.

The second goal was a bit more worrying. The entire defence seemed to freeze. What was going on there? RVP came from miles out and no-one was marking him. Again Forster was rooted to the spot.

I'm not making Forster the scapegoat here, but it is getting a bit of a concern.

Other than that we pretty much out played them. Once again though, we seemed to want to walk the ball into the net. There were numerous occasions when we should have got a shot in but tried an extra pass instead. Mane was careless too often but he also gives glimpses of what he's capable of.

The Burnley game is important. We need the same performance and a bit of luck. Winning is a habit but so is losing. Given our last few performances we could easily have won 3 from 4. We didn't and I am a bit concerned that one more 'unlucky' loss could really knock the team spirit and also make our 'want-aways' want away!

If we don't see Kevin Friend and his useless linesmen back for a long time, I will be happy!
One of the worst performances from officials I have seen for a long time.....that's putting it politely

Van Gaal said we were the better side. No consolation I know, but better to have deserved to win and lost than to have performed badly. This is a blip....3 losses have just come at the same time...top sides, injuries to key personnel, and some staleness just as other teams step up. As long as we keep doing what we have done right, we will start winning again.

Heck I go on me hols for a few weeks and come back to barely an extra point on the board!!! Meltdown I tell you melt down!!!!!!

I gather even United's manager said we were the better team last night, if that is the case come on RK start to earn your corn. Nice to see Pelle's back on the score sheet but I have to ask where has Tadic's goal scoring touch gone. The goals from other mid field players have dried up too...I don't think any one would argue with the fact we do not have a deep enough quality squad.
I just hope we are back to winning ways soon.........COYS

Tbf, Tadic has only scored one league goal, hardly a goal scoring touch gone ... it's not his goal scoring ability, it was his assisting :)

That is true but he did have a good goal scoring record prior to coming here didn't he? Or perhaps I am mistaken........

I thought Tadic played well last night, considering he's carrying a knock too. Far rather him in the 10 than Long. Most of our chances had something to do with him.

As usual, Davis was fantastic from box to box, especially in attack. His close control is awesome sometimes. Him and Tadić switching in and out of the 10 would be my preference.
