I completely agree with the everything you say, apart from the last 2 sentences. I can hold a grudge like an Ozark hillbilly
If Spuds and the Scousers both signed a written pledge that said that they would never sign any of our players or steal any of our coaching and recruitment staff ever again then maybe I could learn to be ambivalent about them both, but you just know that as soon as we gain a little bit of success and start getting positive media attention that they will both be knocking at our door once again...
When I actually think about it, I don't dislike any other team. Obviously prefer the underdogs to do well, but in the top 6 there are none. Fans are always gonna grow to dislike the successful teams. I remember Tom even started hating Leicester when they won the league. But showing your envy and bitterness is a weakness and just makes the winners enjoy it even more. Football fans are the same no matter who they support, and at the end of the day we are all England fans. So we've all been through real pain together.
That's the problem with hovering around relegation....you have to start wishing ill on the bottom sides which doesn't feel natural. I don't dislike Huddersfield, Fulham, Burnley or Cardiff....but I still want them to crash and burn. Would prefer Newcastle and West Ham to go down, but that's because they have been our more recent rivals rather than any true dislike.
Tottenham have been on my list for years, mainly since Hoddle abandoned ship to them, although my feelings about them are mitigated slightly because I like Poch and wish him well - just not at Spurs. They're not up there with Liverpool though, not even close
Spuds have been pillaging us (including our song!) for a lot longer than the Scousers have, frigging North London yobbos....
Spurs Liverpool Don't really dislike anyone else. Used to hate United but that pretty much evaportated when Ferguson left. Have disliked Spurs for as long as I can remember, Liverpool more recent. Their fans are equal on levels of bellendness, with Spurs maybe edging it.
